Below the midline of the testis?
Hello Doctor, about three weeks ago, I was playfully hit by a classmate with a broomstick in the stairwell, directly below the testicles.
Since my left testicle hangs lower, only the left one was struck.
It was very painful at the moment, but after a brief period, the pain eased somewhat, similar to previous injuries.
However, even now, I still experience mild intermittent pain and discomfort below the testicle.
Upon examination, I found no visible signs of injury, and there are no significant changes in hardness, texture, or size upon palpation.
In the past, symptoms from similar impacts did not last this long.
I would like to ask the doctor if there are any abnormalities or potential conditions.
If there are ways to alleviate the discomfort, are there any methods or medications I can use? Thank you for taking the time to respond, and I appreciate your efforts.

If I want to relieve the discomfort, are there any methods or medications I can use? --> It should not have any lasting effects
It may be due to loose underwear; avoid prolonged sitting.
This will help improve circulation.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
Persistent pain below the testicle, especially after a trauma, can be concerning and warrants careful consideration of potential causes and remedies. Given your description of being struck in the area and experiencing ongoing discomfort, it’s important to explore several possibilities.
Potential Causes of Persistent Pain Below the Testicle
1. Trauma and Contusion: The initial impact may have caused a contusion or bruise in the surrounding tissues, which can lead to lingering pain. Even if there is no visible swelling or change in the testicle itself, the soft tissues can remain sensitive for an extended period.
2. Epididymitis: This is an inflammation of the epididymis, the tube that carries sperm from the testicle. It can be caused by infections or trauma. Symptoms often include pain and swelling, but it can sometimes present with mild discomfort without significant swelling.
3. Testicular Torsion: Although this typically presents with severe pain and requires immediate medical attention, it’s worth noting that torsion can sometimes cause intermittent pain. However, given that you have not experienced severe symptoms, this may be less likely.
4. Hernia: An inguinal hernia can cause discomfort in the groin and may radiate pain to the testicular area. This occurs when tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles.
5. Nerve Injury: The trauma could have affected the nerves in the area, leading to persistent pain. Nerve injuries can sometimes take time to heal and may cause ongoing discomfort.
6. Referred Pain: Sometimes, pain in the testicular area can be referred from other areas, such as the lower abdomen or back. Conditions affecting the kidneys or urinary tract can also manifest as testicular pain.
Remedies and Management
1. Rest and Ice: Initially, applying ice to the affected area can help reduce inflammation and numb the pain. Make sure to wrap ice in a cloth to avoid direct contact with the skin.
2. Over-the-Counter Pain Relief: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen or naproxen can help alleviate pain and reduce inflammation. Acetaminophen is another option if NSAIDs are contraindicated.
3. Supportive Underwear: Wearing supportive underwear can help alleviate discomfort by providing support to the testicles and reducing movement.
4. Avoiding Strenuous Activities: Until the pain subsides, it’s advisable to avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activities that could exacerbate the discomfort.
5. Monitoring Symptoms: Keep an eye on any changes in symptoms. If the pain worsens, or if you develop additional symptoms such as swelling, fever, or changes in urination, seek medical attention promptly.
6. Consultation with a Specialist: If the pain persists beyond a few weeks or if you have concerns about the nature of the pain, it’s essential to consult a urologist. They may perform a physical examination and possibly imaging studies (like an ultrasound) to rule out any serious conditions.
Conclusion
Persistent pain below the testicle after trauma can arise from various causes, ranging from minor soft tissue injuries to more significant conditions like epididymitis or hernias. While many cases resolve with conservative management, it’s crucial to monitor your symptoms and seek medical advice if the pain continues or worsens. Early intervention can help prevent complications and ensure appropriate treatment. Remember, your health is paramount, and it’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to persistent pain.
