The penis seems to be too short?
Hello Dr.
Hsu, I am 23 years old, 178 cm tall, and weigh 52 kg.
I have an Adam's apple, armpit hair, and pubic hair.
My erect penis length is 10 cm (I measured it gently with a ruler from the pubic bone to the tip), and the circumference is 3.3 to 3.4 cm (measured horizontally with a ruler).
However, I see that many people online report sizes of 15, 17, or even 19 cm in length, and circumferences of 5, 5.6, or even 6 cm.
I feel like my size is too small and it makes me feel insecure.
I would like to ask the doctor if this is normal.
Thank you, doctor.

You can go to the hospital for an examination to measure the erect length or the length of the corpora cavernosa, as part of it is buried in the fat.

When it comes to understanding penis size, it's important to recognize that there is a wide range of what is considered "normal." Based on various studies, the average erect penis size is typically reported to be around 12.9 to 15 cm (approximately 5.1 to 5.9 inches) in length, with a circumference of about 11.5 cm (approximately 4.5 inches). Therefore, a length of 10 cm (approximately 3.9 inches) when erect is below the average, but it is not uncommon.
It's crucial to understand that penis size can vary significantly among individuals, and many factors can influence this, including genetics, hormonal levels, and overall health. At 23 years old, your body is likely fully developed, but it's also worth noting that many men experience insecurities regarding their size, often exacerbated by societal standards and unrealistic portrayals in media.
Feeling self-conscious about penis size is a common issue, but it’s essential to focus on the fact that sexual satisfaction and intimacy are not solely determined by size. Factors such as emotional connection, communication, and technique play a much more significant role in sexual relationships. Many studies have shown that partners often prioritize these qualities over size when it comes to sexual satisfaction.
If you find that your concerns about size are affecting your self-esteem or mental health, it may be beneficial to speak with a mental health professional. They can help you work through feelings of inadequacy and develop a healthier self-image.
In terms of health, if you are experiencing any pain, discomfort, or issues with sexual function, it would be wise to consult a healthcare provider. They can assess whether there are any underlying medical conditions that need to be addressed.
In summary, while your measurement of 10 cm is below the average range, it is not uncommon, and many men share similar concerns. It’s vital to focus on the broader aspects of sexual health and relationships rather than just physical measurements. Remember, confidence and communication are key components of a fulfilling sexual experience.
