Treatment for eccrine poroma includes carbon dioxide laser, erbium:YAG laser, electrosurgery, and excision.
Among these, carbon dioxide laser may be the most ideal option.
The costs may vary slightly between different laser centers, and currently, our hospital does not have the newer carbon dioxide laser available; you may consult other hospitals.
Treatment for eccrine poroma is no longer covered by health insurance and will require out-of-pocket expenses.

Sweat gland tumors, also known as sweat gland neoplasms, can manifest in various forms, including benign and malignant types. The most common benign sweat gland tumors are syringomas and hidradenomas, while malignant types include sweat gland carcinoma. When it comes to treatment options, the approach largely depends on the type of tumor, its location, size, and whether it is benign or malignant.
For benign sweat gland tumors, such as syringomas, the primary treatment is often surgical excision. This involves removing the tumor along with a margin of healthy tissue to ensure complete removal. Other methods, such as laser therapy, cryotherapy, or electrosurgery, may also be employed, particularly for smaller lesions or when cosmetic concerns are paramount. The choice of treatment can also depend on the patient's preferences and the recommendation of the healthcare provider.
In the case of malignant sweat gland tumors, treatment typically involves a more aggressive approach. Surgical excision remains the cornerstone of treatment, but it may be accompanied by additional therapies such as radiation therapy or chemotherapy, especially if there is a risk of metastasis or if the tumor is not completely resectable.
Regarding costs, the expenses associated with the treatment of sweat gland tumors can vary widely based on several factors, including the healthcare facility, the complexity of the procedure, and the geographical location. Surgical excision costs can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on whether it is performed in an outpatient setting or requires hospitalization. Laser treatments may also vary in cost, typically ranging from $200 to $1,500 per session.
In terms of insurance coverage, many health insurance plans, including those in the United States, typically cover medically necessary procedures, including the surgical removal of tumors. However, coverage can vary significantly based on the specific plan and the nature of the procedure. It is advisable to check with your insurance provider to understand what is covered and what out-of-pocket expenses you may incur.
If you are considering treatment for sweat gland tumors located under the eyes, it is essential to consult with a dermatologist or a surgical oncologist. They can provide a thorough evaluation, discuss the most appropriate treatment options, and give you a clearer idea of the associated costs and insurance coverage.
In summary, treatment options for sweat gland tumors include surgical excision, laser therapy, and other modalities, depending on the tumor's characteristics. Costs can vary widely, and insurance coverage typically applies to medically necessary procedures. Consulting with a healthcare professional is crucial to determine the best course of action tailored to your specific situation.
