Is it possible to get pregnant during the ovulation period?

The last menstrual period started on April 10, with ovulation occurring on April 28.
On that day, there was unprotected intercourse for less than 10 seconds, followed by protected intercourse the next day on April 29.
Now, on May 11, the period has not yet arrived.
On May 6 and 7, there was a significant amount of brown discharge.
Is this normal? Is there a possibility of pregnancy?

Understanding your menstrual cycle and the timing of ovulation is crucial when trying to conceive. Ovulation typically occurs about 14 days before your next expected period, but this can vary depending on the length of your cycle. In your case, with your last menstrual period starting on April 10 and ovulation occurring around April 28, you had unprotected intercourse on the day of ovulation, which is a prime time for conception.

Sperm can live inside the female reproductive tract for up to five days, so if you had intercourse on April 28, there is a possibility that sperm could still be viable when your egg is released. Given that you also had protected intercourse the following day, it is less likely that this would lead to pregnancy, but the unprotected encounter on the day of ovulation is significant.

As for the brown discharge you observed on May 6 and 7, this can be a normal occurrence. Brown discharge often indicates old blood that is being expelled from the body, which can happen for various reasons, including hormonal changes, ovulation, or the onset of your period. However, it can also be an early sign of pregnancy, especially if it occurs around the time your period is due.

Since your period has not arrived by May 11, it is advisable to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are designed to detect the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. If you are pregnant, hCG levels will rise significantly, and a home test should be able to detect it.

If the test is negative and your period still does not come, it may be worth consulting a healthcare provider. There could be other factors at play, such as stress, hormonal imbalances, or other medical conditions that could affect your menstrual cycle.

In summary, yes, you can get pregnant during ovulation, and given the timing of your unprotected intercourse, there is a possibility of pregnancy. The brown discharge you are experiencing could be normal, but it is also worth monitoring. If your period does not arrive soon, taking a pregnancy test or consulting with a healthcare professional would be the next best steps to take.
