There is brownish-yellow discharge two to three days after menstruation?

In the past year, I have occasionally experienced yellow-green discharge, particularly noticeable two to three days after my menstrual period ends.
Sometimes, the discharge contains streaks of blood and has a sour smell, but there is no itching.
Most recently, after my period, I had three consecutive days of yellow discharge with brown streaks of blood.
Occasionally, I feel a dull pain in my lower right abdomen (not during menstruation).
However, I saw a doctor last month, and an ultrasound showed no signs of endometrial polyps, and nothing abnormal was found on the right side.
I also notice that sometimes when I masturbate or feel sexually aroused, I have a lot of discharge, enough that I need to rush to the bathroom.
I am very concerned that there might be an issue with my vagina or cervix, but I have no sexual experience, so the doctor refused to perform an internal examination when I visited.
What should I do?

A pelvic examination can still be performed, and after informing the physician, a sample can still be collected to obtain specimens.

Understanding yellowish discharge after menstruation can be a source of concern for many individuals, especially when accompanied by other symptoms such as abdominal pain or the presence of blood. Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing a yellowish-green discharge, particularly noticeable a few days after your menstrual period, along with occasional blood streaks and a sour odor. You also mentioned experiencing dull pain in your right lower abdomen outside of your menstrual cycle, and that previous ultrasounds did not reveal any abnormalities such as endometrial polyps.

Firstly, it is important to understand that vaginal discharge can vary significantly throughout the menstrual cycle due to hormonal changes. Normal discharge can be clear, white, or slightly yellowish, and its consistency can change based on factors such as ovulation, menstruation, and sexual arousal. The presence of a sour odor may indicate a change in the vaginal flora, possibly due to an imbalance or infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection, although the absence of itching makes a yeast infection less likely.

The yellowish discharge you are experiencing, especially if it has a greenish tint, could suggest an infection. Conditions such as bacterial vaginosis or sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like trichomoniasis can cause similar symptoms. The presence of blood in the discharge, particularly if it is brownish, may indicate old blood that is being expelled from the body, which can occur after menstruation. However, if the bleeding is recurrent or accompanied by significant pain, it is essential to seek further evaluation.

The dull pain in your right lower abdomen could be related to various factors, including ovulation pain (mittelschmerz), ovarian cysts, or other gynecological issues. Since you mentioned that you have not had a sexual experience, it is less likely that the pain is related to STIs, but it is still important to rule out any underlying conditions.

Given that your doctor has performed an ultrasound and found no abnormalities, it may be beneficial to consider additional diagnostic tests. A pelvic examination, even if you are hesitant about it, could provide more insight into your symptoms. If your doctor is unwilling to perform an internal examination, you might consider seeking a second opinion from another healthcare provider who specializes in gynecology.
In the meantime, maintaining good vaginal hygiene, avoiding douching, and wearing breathable cotton underwear can help manage symptoms. If you notice any worsening of your symptoms, such as increased pain, a change in the odor or color of the discharge, or fever, it is crucial to seek medical attention promptly.

In summary, while some variations in discharge are normal, the combination of yellowish discharge, blood streaks, and abdominal pain warrants further investigation. It is essential to communicate openly with your healthcare provider about your concerns and symptoms, and do not hesitate to seek a second opinion if you feel your concerns are not being adequately addressed. Your health and peace of mind are paramount, and understanding the underlying causes of your symptoms is the first step toward effective management.
