Is it possible to be pregnant?

Hello Doctor, I am the same person as ID number 198240.
I apologize for taking up your time twice.
As mentioned in the previous article, I had intimate contact with my boyfriend from June 30 to today, July 6, which has been 7 days.
Recently, my body temperature has been fluctuating between 36.5 and 37.2 degrees Celsius.
I would like to ask if this could be an early sign of pregnancy? However, there are 6 confirmed cases in my household, and our living areas overlap.
Therefore, I am not sure if I am infected.
I took a rapid test on July 6, which was negative, and I do not have a confirmed case.
My symptoms include dizziness (another family member has the same symptoms occurring simultaneously), elevated body temperature, and increased shortness of breath.
Could these symptoms be indicative of early pregnancy, or is it possible that the viral load is too low to detect a positive result? Thank you again for your response.

Niming, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2023/07/06

Hello, if there has been no actual sexual intercourse, pregnancy is unlikely.
Just monitor the situation.
Wishing you good health.

When considering the symptoms you've described, it's important to differentiate between early pregnancy signs and potential viral infections, especially in the context of recent exposure to COVID-19 or other viral illnesses.
Firstly, the symptoms of early pregnancy can include a range of physical changes due to hormonal fluctuations. Common early signs include missed periods, nausea, breast tenderness, fatigue, and changes in body temperature. The body temperature you mentioned, ranging from 36.5 to 37.2 degrees Celsius, is within a normal range, but it can be slightly elevated during early pregnancy due to increased progesterone levels. However, this temperature range is also consistent with a mild viral infection, as fever is a common response to infection.

Given that you have been in close contact with family members who have tested positive for a viral infection, it is plausible that your symptoms—such as dizziness, elevated body temperature, and increased shortness of breath—could be attributed to a viral illness rather than pregnancy. The fact that you tested negative for COVID-19 on July 6 does not completely rule out the possibility of infection, as the viral load may not have been sufficient to yield a positive result at that time. The incubation period for many viruses can vary, and symptoms can develop even if initial tests are negative.

It's also worth noting that stress and anxiety about potential pregnancy or illness can exacerbate physical symptoms, leading to feelings of dizziness or discomfort. If you are experiencing significant symptoms, it would be prudent to consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation. They may recommend additional testing, such as a blood test for pregnancy or a more sensitive viral test, to clarify your situation.

In summary, while your symptoms could indicate early pregnancy, they are equally consistent with a viral infection, especially given your recent exposure. Monitoring your symptoms and seeking medical advice will provide you with the best course of action. If you experience worsening symptoms, such as difficulty breathing or persistent high fever, it is essential to seek immediate medical attention. Remember, early intervention is key in managing both pregnancy and viral infections effectively.

Your description could occur even without pregnancy. It cannot be used to determine whether or not you are pregnant. You can take a pregnancy test once your expected period is missed.
