I felt a small lump on my left testicle?

During a shower, I noticed a small lump on my left testicle, located near the epididymis.
It is about the size of a small pimple.
The testicle itself is not painful or swollen, but there is a slight tenderness when I gently press on the lump.
I would like to know what this small lump could be.

Hello: If there is no unsafe sexual behavior and it is only a single issue, mostly related to sebaceous gland problems, if it increases in size, it is advisable to seek medical attention.
Wishing you good health.

More Info

When you discover a small bump on your left testicle, particularly one that feels somewhat near the epididymis and resembles a small pimple, it can understandably cause concern. Based on the information provided and common medical knowledge, there are several potential explanations for this bump.

One possibility is that the bump could be a cyst, specifically an epididymal cyst or a spermatocele. Epididymal cysts are fluid-filled sacs that form in the epididymis, which is the coiled tube located at the back of the testicle. These cysts are typically benign and often do not cause any symptoms other than the presence of a lump. They can vary in size and may sometimes cause mild discomfort when pressed, which aligns with your experience of feeling a slight soreness when applying pressure.

Another potential cause could be a sebaceous cyst, which occurs when a hair follicle becomes blocked and fills with sebum, a natural oil produced by the skin. These cysts can appear anywhere on the body, including the genital area, and are generally harmless. They may feel soft and movable and can sometimes be tender to the touch.

In some cases, the bump could also be related to a condition known as varicocele, which is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum. Varicoceles can sometimes be felt as a lump or swelling above the testicle and may cause a dull ache or discomfort, especially after prolonged standing or physical activity. However, varicoceles are more commonly associated with a "bag of worms" feeling rather than a distinct bump.

While the absence of significant discomfort, swelling, or other alarming symptoms is reassuring, it is still essential to approach this situation with caution. Any new or unusual lump in the testicular area warrants a medical evaluation to rule out more serious conditions, such as testicular tumors or infections. A healthcare provider may recommend a physical examination and possibly an ultrasound to assess the nature of the bump more accurately.

If the bump is indeed benign, treatment may not be necessary unless it causes discomfort or anxiety. However, if it is determined to be a cyst or another benign condition, monitoring it may be all that is required. In contrast, if a more serious issue is identified, timely intervention can be crucial.

In summary, while the small bump you have noticed on your left testicle could likely be a benign cyst or a similar condition, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation. They can provide a definitive diagnosis and recommend appropriate management based on your specific situation. Regular self-examinations of the testicles are encouraged, as they can help you become familiar with what is normal for you and identify any changes that may require medical attention.
