Unusual White Discharge After Masturbation: Causes and Concerns - Urology

Strange discharge?

Recently, I noticed a white discharge coming from the area between the glans and the foreskin (the coronal sulcus) when I masturbate.
It has a foul odor, and this situation has not occurred before; it only happens after masturbation.
Normally, everything is fine, and I don't feel any pain.
By the way, I have phimosis, but I can fully expose the glans.
What could be the reason for this?

Cha, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2023/07/22

Hello: Please make sure to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting underwear, and if you have engaged in unsafe sexual practices, it is advisable to seek medical attention.

More Info

Unusual white discharge after masturbation can be concerning, especially if it is accompanied by an unpleasant odor. While it is good to hear that you are not experiencing any pain, it is still important to understand the potential causes and when to seek medical advice.

The discharge you are experiencing could be due to several factors. One common cause is smegma, which is a combination of dead skin cells, oils, and moisture that can accumulate under the foreskin. This is particularly common in individuals with a longer foreskin, as it can trap moisture and debris. Smegma can sometimes have a foul odor, especially if it is not cleaned regularly.
Another possibility is a mild infection, such as a yeast infection or bacterial infection. These infections can lead to changes in discharge, including color and odor. While yeast infections are more common in women, men can also experience them, particularly if they have conditions that affect their immune system or if they are uncircumcised. Bacterial infections can also occur and may present with similar symptoms.

It is also worth considering that the discharge could be related to the act of masturbation itself. Friction and stimulation can sometimes cause irritation or inflammation of the skin, leading to discharge. If you are using any lubricants or lotions during masturbation, these could also contribute to changes in discharge.

Given that you mentioned the discharge is only present after masturbation and that you have a longer foreskin, it would be advisable to maintain good hygiene. Regularly cleaning the area with mild soap and water can help prevent the buildup of smegma and reduce the risk of infections.
However, if the discharge persists, changes in color, consistency, or odor, or if you start experiencing pain or discomfort, it is important to consult a healthcare professional. They can perform a physical examination and may recommend tests to rule out any infections or other underlying conditions.
In summary, while the white discharge you are experiencing could be related to smegma or mild irritation, it is essential to monitor the situation. Maintaining good hygiene is crucial, and seeking medical advice if symptoms persist or worsen is always a good practice. Your health and well-being should be a priority, and a healthcare provider can offer personalized guidance based on your specific situation.
