Red spots on the feet?

There are red spots on my calves that look like pimples; the surface feels smooth and is not raised.
They are particularly concentrated on the inner side of my calves, with more on the left leg than the right, and there are a few spots on my thighs as well.
They are not painful or itchy.
I usually sit for long periods and do not have an exercise habit.
I remember having these red spots in the past, but I only recently noticed that they have increased in number after someone pointed it out.
I'm not sure what the issue could be.

Without actually seeing the lesion, I cannot determine what the problem is.

Red bumps on the legs, especially when they resemble small pimples and feel smooth to the touch, can be caused by a variety of factors. Given your description, it seems that these bumps are not painful or itchy, which can help narrow down potential causes. Here are some common explanations for the appearance of red bumps on the legs:
1. Folliculitis: This is an inflammation of the hair follicles, which can occur due to irritation, infection, or blockage. It often presents as small red bumps that may resemble acne. Folliculitis can be exacerbated by tight clothing, excessive sweating, or sitting for long periods, which can irritate the hair follicles.

2. Keratosis Pilaris: This is a common, benign skin condition characterized by small, rough bumps that often appear on the outer sides of the upper arms, thighs, and sometimes on the lower legs. It occurs due to the buildup of keratin, a protein in the skin, which can block hair follicles. The bumps are usually not painful or itchy.

3. Allergic Reactions: Sometimes, skin reactions can occur due to contact with allergens or irritants, such as soaps, lotions, or fabrics. If you have recently changed any products or come into contact with new materials, this could be a potential cause.

4. Heat Rash: If you live in a warm climate or have been sweating a lot, you might develop a heat rash, which can appear as small red bumps. This is more common in areas where sweat can become trapped, such as the inner thighs or the backs of the knees.

5. Vascular Issues: Conditions such as petechiae or purpura can cause small red or purple spots on the skin due to bleeding under the skin. These are usually not raised and can be a sign of an underlying health issue, especially if they appear suddenly or in large numbers.

6. Dermatitis: Various forms of dermatitis, including contact dermatitis or atopic dermatitis, can cause red bumps on the skin. These conditions are often associated with itching or irritation, but in some cases, they may not present with significant symptoms.

Given that you mentioned these bumps have been present for a while but have recently increased in number, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional or a dermatologist. They can perform a physical examination and may recommend a skin scraping or biopsy if necessary to determine the exact cause of the bumps.

In the meantime, here are some general tips to manage the condition:
- Avoid Irritants: If you suspect that certain soaps, lotions, or fabrics may be causing irritation, try to eliminate them from your routine.

- Moisturize: Keeping your skin hydrated can help improve its overall appearance and may reduce the occurrence of bumps.

- Gentle Exfoliation: Using a mild exfoliating scrub or lotion may help remove dead skin cells and prevent clogged hair follicles, especially if you have keratosis pilaris.

- Wear Loose Clothing: This can help reduce friction and irritation on the skin, particularly if you sit for long periods.

In conclusion, while the red bumps on your legs may not be a cause for immediate concern, monitoring their appearance and consulting with a healthcare provider is essential to rule out any underlying issues and to receive appropriate treatment if necessary.
