White, pimple-like lesions?
Hello, I would like to ask about something I noticed while showering.
I found small white (milky white) raised bumps under the glans, about one millimeter in size, and there are around five or six of them.
I have only one sexual partner, and we always use condoms.
Could this be a sexually transmitted infection, or is there a possibility of another condition? Thank you! I'm quite worried.

It is likely not a sexually transmitted infection; it seems more like benign nipple hyperplasia.
I recommend consulting a urologist for a thorough examination.

When it comes to the appearance of white bumps under the glans (the head of the penis), there are several potential explanations, and it’s understandable to feel concerned. Here are some common causes for such symptoms:
1. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, benign bumps that are often found around the corona (the ridge) of the glans. They are usually white or skin-colored and are completely normal anatomical variations. They are not sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and do not require treatment.
2. Fordyce Spots: These are small, painless, pale bumps that can appear on the shaft of the penis or the scrotum. They are sebaceous glands that are not associated with hair follicles and are also harmless.
3. Folliculitis: This condition occurs when hair follicles become inflamed, often due to infection or irritation. It can lead to small, red or white bumps that may resemble pimples. This is generally not serious and can be treated with proper hygiene and sometimes topical antibiotics.
4. Genital Warts: Caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV), these can appear as small, flesh-colored or white bumps. They can be transmitted through sexual contact, so if you have concerns about STIs, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider for evaluation and possible testing.
5. Candidiasis (Yeast Infection): A fungal infection can lead to white patches or bumps, often accompanied by itching or irritation. This is more common in individuals with certain risk factors, such as diabetes or a weakened immune system.
6. Lichen Planus: This is an inflammatory condition that can affect the skin and mucous membranes, leading to white, lacy patches or bumps. It’s less common but can occur in the genital area.
7. Other Conditions: There are other less common conditions, such as molluscum contagiosum, which can also cause small bumps. This is a viral infection that can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact.
Given that you have a single sexual partner and use protection, the likelihood of an STI is lower, but it is not completely ruled out. It’s important to remember that many benign conditions can mimic the appearance of STIs.
Recommendations:
- Consult a Healthcare Provider: The best course of action is to see a healthcare provider, preferably a urologist or dermatologist, who can perform a physical examination and possibly run tests to determine the exact nature of the bumps.
- Avoid Self-Diagnosis: While it’s helpful to research symptoms, self-diagnosing can lead to unnecessary anxiety. A professional evaluation is crucial for peace of mind and appropriate treatment if needed.
- Maintain Good Hygiene: Keeping the genital area clean and dry can help prevent infections and irritations.
- Monitor Symptoms: Keep an eye on any changes in the bumps, such as size, color, or if they become painful or itchy. This information can be helpful for your healthcare provider.
In summary, while the presence of white bumps under the glans can be concerning, many of the potential causes are benign. Consulting with a healthcare professional is the best way to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
