Can I ride a motorcycle one month after a triquetrum tear fracture?

On November 15, I had a car accident resulting in a tear fracture of the triangular bone in my right hand.
The doctor said the fracture was non-displaced.
I had a cast applied on November 15, which was removed on December 4.
On December 19, I need to ride a motorcycle for some errands.
Is it safe to ride a motorcycle one month after a triangular bone fracture? I feel that bending my hand up and down doesn’t cause pain (the doctor also mentioned that bending the hand is necessary to restore joint flexibility).
Bending my palm to the right causes slight discomfort near the triangular bone, but I believe riding a motorcycle shouldn’t require bending my hand to the right.

After a triangular bone fracture, the decision to ride a motorcycle one month post-injury should be approached with caution. In your case, you mentioned that the fracture was non-displaced and that you had your cast removed after a few weeks. While it is encouraging that you feel comfortable moving your hand and that your doctor has advised you to engage in exercises to restore joint flexibility, there are several factors to consider before making the decision to ride a motorcycle.

Firstly, the healing process of bones can vary significantly from person to person. Even if your fracture was non-displaced and you have had your cast removed, the bone may still be in a fragile state. The triangular bone, or the triquetrum, is located in the wrist and plays a crucial role in wrist stability and function. If the bone has not fully healed, engaging in activities that require grip strength or wrist movement, such as riding a motorcycle, could risk re-injury or complications.

Secondly, riding a motorcycle requires a significant amount of coordination and strength in your hands and wrists. You need to be able to grip the handlebars firmly, operate the throttle, and brake effectively. If you experience any discomfort or weakness in your wrist while performing these actions, it could compromise your ability to ride safely. Additionally, if you have any lingering pain or discomfort when moving your wrist, it could indicate that the healing process is not yet complete.

Moreover, consider the potential risks involved in riding a motorcycle. If you were to fall or get into an accident, your wrist could be subjected to forces that could exacerbate your injury. The risk of falling is always present when riding a motorcycle, and if your wrist is not fully healed, you may not be able to react quickly or effectively in a critical situation.

It is also essential to follow your doctor's advice closely. While you may feel ready to ride, your healthcare provider has a comprehensive understanding of your specific injury and recovery process. They can assess your wrist's strength, range of motion, and overall readiness for activities like motorcycle riding. It is advisable to consult with your physician before making any decisions. They may recommend a gradual return to activities, starting with less demanding tasks to gauge your wrist's response.

In summary, while you may feel capable of riding a motorcycle one month after your triangular bone fracture, it is crucial to prioritize your safety and recovery. Consult with your healthcare provider to ensure that your wrist has healed sufficiently and that you are ready to engage in such activities. They can provide personalized guidance based on your healing progress and help you make an informed decision. Remember, taking the time to heal properly can prevent long-term complications and ensure a safer return to your regular activities.
