Resisting ejaculation?
I have been on antibiotics for over a month now (still finishing the second pack) and have been trying to avoid masturbation.
I have a few questions for the doctor:
1.
Does staying up late and working shifts affect the recovery from prostatitis? I am currently trying to adjust my schedule to sleep earlier.
2.
During the antibiotic treatment, is it permissible to masturbate? If so, how many times a week would you recommend, or should I let it happen naturally (I haven't experienced nocturnal emissions in a long time)? I have read that abstaining is better, but there are also articles suggesting that safe sexual activity is beneficial.
Would masturbating once a week affect my recovery?
3.
Are there any dietary considerations I should be aware of?
4.
I asked my attending physician, and he advised me not to hold back from ejaculation during masturbation and also suggested that I shouldn't hold my urine.
However, if I have the urge to ejaculate but cannot, could that worsen the inflammation?

Hello: If you have prostatitis with bacterial infection, it is personally advised to limit DIY (do-it-yourself) activities to once a week.
Aseptic conditions are normal.
For bacterial and aseptic cases, safe sexual practices are essential.
Maintain a light diet, engage in moderate exercise, ensure adequate hydration, avoid prolonged sitting, and refrain from cycling.
Do not hold back during DIY activities; theoretically, it should not affect ejaculation.
However, medication may have an impact.
The inflammation index will be affected as long as there is sexual activity.
Wishing you good health.

Managing prostatitis can be a complex process, especially when considering the role of antibiotics, lifestyle choices, and sexual activity. Here’s a comprehensive overview addressing your concerns.
1. Impact of Lifestyle on Recovery: Working night shifts and having irregular sleep patterns can indeed affect your recovery from prostatitis. Sleep is crucial for overall health and immune function. Lack of sleep can lead to increased stress and inflammation, which may hinder your body’s ability to heal. It’s great that you are trying to adjust your sleep schedule. Aim for a consistent sleep routine, prioritize quality sleep, and consider relaxation techniques to manage stress.
2. Masturbation During Antibiotic Treatment: The question of whether to engage in masturbation during antibiotic treatment for prostatitis is nuanced. While some sources suggest that abstaining from sexual activity may be beneficial, others advocate for moderate sexual activity, including masturbation, as it can help relieve pressure in the prostate and may even aid in recovery. If you choose to masturbate, doing so once a week should not significantly impact your recovery, provided you are not experiencing pain or discomfort during the process. However, it’s essential to listen to your body. If you feel any discomfort or if your symptoms worsen, it may be wise to abstain until you feel better.
3. Dietary Considerations: Diet plays a vital role in managing prostatitis. It’s advisable to avoid spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol, and acidic foods, as these can irritate the bladder and prostate. Instead, focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish, and those rich in antioxidants can help reduce inflammation. Staying well-hydrated is also crucial, as it helps flush out toxins and may alleviate some urinary symptoms.
4. Urination and Sexual Health: Your doctor’s advice to avoid holding in urine is sound. Retaining urine can lead to increased pressure in the bladder and prostate, potentially worsening inflammation. If you feel the urge to urinate, it’s best to go when you can. Regarding your concerns about not being able to ejaculate during masturbation, it’s important to understand that while sexual release can provide relief, the absence of ejaculation itself is not likely to worsen inflammation. However, if you experience persistent urges without relief, it may lead to discomfort or increased anxiety, which could indirectly affect your recovery.
In summary, managing prostatitis effectively involves a combination of medical treatment, lifestyle adjustments, and self-care practices. Continue your antibiotic regimen as prescribed, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and communicate openly with your healthcare provider about any concerns or changes in your symptoms. Regular follow-ups are essential to monitor your condition and make necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. Remember, recovery can take time, and being patient with yourself is key.
