Can I get pregnant?

Hello, doctor.
My girlfriend's last menstrual period started on December 1.
We had sexual intercourse on December 19-20, but it was only through manual stimulation, with no genital contact, and there was external ejaculation.
My girlfriend has a longer menstrual cycle; her previous period started on October 27, and she hasn't gotten her period in January yet.
She mentioned that she is under a lot of exam stress, which might delay her period.
My questions are: 1.
Is there a possibility of pregnancy from this type of sexual activity? 2.
Could the missed period be due to stress and lack of sleep? 3.
Would taking menstrual induction medication be helpful? Thank you.

Hello, it seems that you are not pregnant.
Please wait another one to two weeks, and if your period still does not arrive, I recommend seeing a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

When it comes to the possibility of pregnancy from external ejaculation, it is important to understand the mechanics of conception and the factors that can influence menstrual cycles.
1. Possibility of Pregnancy: In your case, since you mentioned that the sexual activity involved only external stimulation and external ejaculation, the risk of pregnancy is significantly lower compared to penetrative intercourse. However, it is not entirely impossible. Pre-ejaculate fluid (pre-cum) can contain sperm, and if it comes into contact with the vaginal area, there is a slight chance of sperm entering the vagina and leading to pregnancy. That said, the likelihood is low, especially since you were careful to avoid direct contact.

2. Menstrual Delays: The absence of your girlfriend's menstrual period could indeed be attributed to several factors, including stress and lifestyle changes. Stress can significantly impact hormonal balance, which in turn can affect the menstrual cycle. The body may delay ovulation or even skip a cycle entirely in response to stress, anxiety, or significant lifestyle changes such as changes in diet, exercise, or sleep patterns. Additionally, if her menstrual cycle is typically longer, it is possible that her period is simply delayed and may arrive later than expected.

3. Use of Menstrual Induction Medications: Regarding the use of medications to induce menstruation, it is crucial to approach this with caution. While some medications can help regulate menstrual cycles, they should only be taken under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Self-medicating can lead to unwanted side effects and may not address the underlying issue causing the delay. It is advisable for your girlfriend to consult with a healthcare provider who can evaluate her situation and recommend appropriate treatment if necessary.

In summary, while the risk of pregnancy from external ejaculation is low, it is not zero. The delay in menstruation could be due to stress or other factors, and using medications to induce menstruation should be done under medical supervision. If your girlfriend's period does not arrive soon, or if she experiences any unusual symptoms, it would be wise for her to take a pregnancy test and consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation.
