The external anal mass may have a foul odor and appears whitish in color?
In the past three days, after eating spicy food, I experienced diarrhea, and afterward, I suddenly felt a lot of pain in my anus.
I discovered a long, white, and somewhat flesh-colored lump that I had not noticed before.
When I touch it with my finger, I can feel that the lump is located outside the anal sphincter at the anal opening.
Recently, my stool has also changed to a dark brown color.
Additionally, there is a sour odor coming from the anal area, which I thought was due to inadequate cleaning, but now I am worried it might be a rare case of anal cancer.
I understand that typical hemorrhoids usually present as dark-colored lumps and do not typically have a sour smell.

Based on your description, there is a suspicion of an anal fistula, which is associated with inflammatory lesions related to the anal glands.
It is recommended to consult a colorectal specialist for a comprehensive examination and appropriate treatment, while also ruling out any malignant tumors of the anal and rectal area.

When it comes to painful anal masses, especially in the context of recent gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea and the consumption of spicy foods, there are several important considerations to keep in mind. The symptoms you describe, including the sudden onset of pain, the presence of a white and slightly flesh-colored mass near the anal sphincter, changes in stool color, and an unpleasant odor, warrant a thorough evaluation.
Firstly, the mass you have noticed could be a variety of conditions. Commonly, anal masses can include hemorrhoids, anal fissures, or skin tags. Hemorrhoids, which are swollen veins in the rectal area, can sometimes appear as lumps and may cause discomfort, especially if they become thrombosed (clotted). Anal fissures, which are small tears in the lining of the anus, can also lead to significant pain, particularly during bowel movements. Skin tags are benign growths that can occur after episodes of irritation or inflammation.
However, the characteristics of the mass you describe, particularly its color and the associated symptoms, raise some concerns. The presence of a white mass could suggest a few possibilities, including a perianal abscess, which is a collection of pus that can occur due to infection, or even a more serious condition such as anal cancer, especially if there are changes in bowel habits or unusual odors. The black-brown color of your stool could indicate the presence of blood, which is a concerning symptom that should not be overlooked.
The odor you mention could be related to poor hygiene, especially if there is an infection present, but it could also be a sign of a more serious underlying condition. It is important to note that while typical hemorrhoids may not have a foul smell, any unusual odor associated with an anal mass should prompt further investigation.
Given these symptoms, it is crucial to seek medical attention promptly. A healthcare provider, preferably a gastroenterologist or a colorectal surgeon, can perform a physical examination and possibly recommend further diagnostic tests, such as an anoscopy or colonoscopy, to visualize the area and assess for any abnormalities. They may also conduct a biopsy if there is any suspicion of malignancy.
In summary, while there are several benign explanations for the symptoms you are experiencing, the combination of a painful anal mass, changes in stool color, and an unpleasant odor necessitates a thorough evaluation to rule out serious conditions, including anal cancer. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to managing any potential issues effectively. Please do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
