Is it possible for herpes to appear the next day?
Hello, I had sexual intercourse with a woman recently, and during oral sex, I did not use a condom.
The next day, I noticed a ring of small spots on the corona and four small white blisters near the frenulum.
After noticing this, I have been applying an anti-itch cream.
I would like to know if it is possible for herpes to appear completely the next day and not worsen or show other symptoms by today?

Herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections can indeed present symptoms relatively quickly after exposure, but the timeline can vary significantly from person to person. Generally, after initial exposure to the virus, symptoms can appear anywhere from 2 to 12 days later, with an average onset around 4 days. However, in some cases, individuals may experience symptoms sooner, within 1 to 2 days after exposure, particularly if they have had a previous infection or if their immune system is compromised.
The symptoms you describe, such as small bumps or blisters around the genital area, are consistent with herpes. These lesions typically start as small red bumps that can develop into painful blisters filled with fluid. The fact that you noticed these symptoms the day after exposure raises the possibility that they could be related to herpes, but it is also important to consider other potential causes, such as folliculitis, contact dermatitis, or other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
It is worth noting that herpes lesions can sometimes be mild or atypical, leading to a lack of severe symptoms. Some individuals may experience very few symptoms or even be asymptomatic, which means they do not show any signs of the infection despite being infected. This can make it challenging to determine the exact cause of the symptoms without proper medical evaluation.
You mentioned that you have been applying a topical ointment for the lesions. While this may provide some relief, it is crucial to consult a healthcare professional for a definitive diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Antiviral medications, such as acyclovir, can be prescribed to help manage herpes outbreaks and reduce the duration and severity of symptoms. Additionally, a healthcare provider can perform tests to confirm whether the lesions are indeed caused by herpes or another condition.
In summary, while it is possible for herpes symptoms to appear as soon as one day after exposure, it is essential to seek medical advice for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. Early intervention can help manage symptoms effectively and reduce the risk of transmission to others. If you have any concerns about your sexual health or the symptoms you are experiencing, please do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare provider for assistance.
