Phimosis
Hello doctor, I am a high school sophomore.
I have been masturbating since I was 13 years old.
Recently, I came across information about so-called "pseudophimosis," which seems somewhat similar to my situation.
Firstly, in my normal state, I can fully retract the foreskin behind the coronal sulcus, but there is a thicker ring of foreskin surrounding the area below the coronal sulcus.
Even when wearing underwear for a long time, the foreskin does not frequently retract back over the glans.
During an erection, I can also fully retract it.
However, when I masturbate, I mainly rely on the repeated sliding of the foreskin to achieve pleasure.
If I push the foreskin completely back over the glans, it can slightly cover about half of the glans.
I recently realized that this might differ from general understanding.
Will this affect my ability and comfort during sexual intercourse in the future? Would you recommend circumcision? Does this condition fall under the definition of phimosis?

More Info
Phimosis is a condition where the foreskin cannot be easily retracted over the glans (the head of the penis). It can be classified into two types: true phimosis, where the foreskin cannot be retracted at all, and physiological or "false" phimosis, which is common in younger males and often resolves naturally as they grow older. Your description suggests that you have the ability to retract your foreskin completely when not erect, which indicates that you may not have true phimosis. However, the presence of a thicker ring of skin around the corona (the ridge of the glans) could be a concern for some individuals.
In terms of comfort and sexual function, many men with a thicker foreskin or who experience some difficulty in retracting it during sexual activity do not face significant issues. However, if you find that the thickness of the foreskin is causing discomfort during sexual activities or if it interferes with your ability to achieve pleasure, it may be worth discussing with a healthcare provider.
Regarding circumcision, it is not always necessary for everyone with a thicker foreskin or mild phimosis. Many men live comfortably with their foreskin intact and do not require surgical intervention. Circumcision is typically recommended in cases where phimosis leads to recurrent infections, pain, or other complications. If you are not experiencing any pain, discomfort, or recurrent infections, circumcision may not be necessary.
It is important to note that sexual function is influenced by many factors, including psychological aspects, emotional connection, and physical health. If you are concerned about how your foreskin might affect your sexual experiences in the future, it would be beneficial to consult with a urologist or a healthcare provider specializing in men's health. They can provide personalized advice based on your specific situation and help you understand the implications of your anatomy on sexual function.
In summary, while your situation may not necessarily require circumcision, it is essential to monitor any changes or discomfort you may experience. Open communication with a healthcare professional can help you make informed decisions about your sexual health and comfort. Remember, every individual is different, and what works for one person may not be necessary for another.
