After ejaculation, if the condom is not immediately removed, semen may leak out?

Today is approximately 12 to 13 days after ovulation.
After intercourse, the condom was not immediately removed and remained at the vaginal opening, causing semen to leak out from the side of the condom.
Later, I noticed some white fluid at the vaginal opening, but I'm unsure if it's semen or vaginal secretions.
Is there a chance of pregnancy? Should I take emergency contraception (I've heard it can be harmful to the body)?

Hello, the failure rate of correctly using condoms throughout intercourse is still about 5%.
As long as there are active sperm in the vagina during the ovulation period, there is still a possibility of pregnancy, regardless of any leakage.
It is best to use emergency contraception as a remedy, but its effectiveness is not 100%, with a failure rate of about 3%.
It is recommended to check for pregnancy if your period is more than a week late.
Thank you! Wishing you safety and health.

When it comes to the question of whether you can get pregnant if semen leaks from a condom, the short answer is yes, there is a possibility of pregnancy. Condoms are designed to be a reliable form of contraception, but they are not infallible. If semen leaks out of the condom during or after intercourse, it can lead to sperm entering the vaginal canal, which may result in pregnancy, especially if this occurs around the time of ovulation.

In your case, since you mentioned that the condom was not removed immediately after ejaculation and that some semen leaked out, there is a chance that sperm could have made its way into the vagina. The likelihood of pregnancy depends on several factors, including the timing of your menstrual cycle, the viability of the sperm, and how much semen actually leaked out. Sperm can live inside the female reproductive tract for up to five days, so if you are close to your ovulation period, the risk of pregnancy increases.

Regarding the white liquid you observed at the vaginal opening, it can be difficult to distinguish between semen and vaginal discharge without further context. Semen is typically thicker and may have a different consistency compared to normal vaginal discharge, which can vary throughout the menstrual cycle. If you are unsure, it might be helpful to monitor your cycle and any symptoms you may experience in the following weeks.

As for whether you should take emergency contraception (often referred to as the "morning-after pill"), it is an option to consider if you are concerned about the possibility of pregnancy. Emergency contraception is most effective when taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse, ideally within 72 hours, but some types can be effective up to 5 days after. While it is true that taking emergency contraception can have side effects, such as nausea or changes in your menstrual cycle, it is generally considered safe for most women. However, it is always best to consult with a healthcare provider to discuss your specific situation and any potential risks.

In summary, there is a possibility of pregnancy if semen leaks from a condom, especially during ovulation. If you are concerned about the risk of pregnancy, consider taking emergency contraception and consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice. Additionally, if you find yourself frequently in situations where condom failure is a concern, you might want to explore other contraceptive methods that could provide more reliable protection.
