Best Alternatives to Lejeng Gel for Oily Skin and Acne Care - Dermatology

Could you please provide more details about the "樂淨凝膠" (Lejing Gel)?

I have very oily skin with a lot of whiteheads and enlarged pores on my cheeks.
I don't have many acne breakouts, but they occasionally appear.
How should I take care of my skin, and are there any products you can recommend? Previously, I suddenly developed many acne and small whiteheads on my chin overnight and went to the hospital.
The doctor said it was an allergy and prescribed me Lojan Gel (Bolin Fuchin) to use.
Since I've finished it, I'm looking for similar products available at pharmacies, but I'm confused about what to get.
Could you please recommend any similar products to Lojan that I can buy at a pharmacy? Thank you!

The product with the same active ingredient as Lejing Gel is Cleocin-T Gel (Lioxin Skin) from Pharmacia.
You can inquire about it at the pharmacy.

When it comes to managing oily skin and acne, finding the right products can be a challenge, especially if you've had a positive experience with a specific medication like Lejeng Gel (also known as Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide Gel). This combination gel is effective for treating acne due to its antibacterial and exfoliating properties. However, if you're looking for alternatives that are available over-the-counter, there are several options to consider.

Alternatives to Lejeng Gel
1. Benzoyl Peroxide Products: Benzoyl peroxide is a common ingredient in many acne treatments. It works by killing acne-causing bacteria and helping to unclog pores. Look for products with 2.5% to 10% benzoyl peroxide, as they can be effective without being overly irritating. Brands like Neutrogena and Clean & Clear offer various formulations, including gels and creams.

2. Salicylic Acid Treatments: Salicylic acid is another effective ingredient for oily and acne-prone skin. It helps to exfoliate the skin and unclog pores. Products like Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant or Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash can be beneficial. These products can help reduce whiteheads and blackheads while also minimizing the appearance of pores.

3. Retinoids: Over-the-counter retinoids, such as Differin Gel (Adapalene), can be very effective for treating acne. They work by promoting cell turnover and preventing clogged pores. Retinoids can also help improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines over time.

4. Tea Tree Oil: For a more natural approach, tea tree oil has antibacterial properties and can be effective in treating acne. Look for products that contain tea tree oil, such as The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil or Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Acne Gel. However, it's essential to do a patch test first, as tea tree oil can be irritating for some individuals.

5. Niacinamide: This ingredient is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can help regulate oil production. Products like The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% can be beneficial for oily and acne-prone skin.

General Skincare Tips for Oily Skin and Acne
- Cleansing: Use a gentle, foaming cleanser that targets oil and acne. Avoid harsh scrubs, as they can irritate the skin and worsen acne.

- Moisturizing: Even oily skin needs hydration. Look for oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturizers that won't clog pores. Gel-based moisturizers can be a good option.

- Sunscreen: Always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day, as some acne treatments can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Look for oil-free, non-comedogenic formulas.

- Avoid Picking: Resist the urge to pick at acne or whiteheads, as this can lead to scarring and further irritation.

- Patch Test New Products: When trying new products, especially those with active ingredients, perform a patch test to see how your skin reacts.

Conclusion
While Lejeng Gel is effective, there are numerous alternatives available over-the-counter that can help manage oily skin and acne. Products containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, retinoids, tea tree oil, and niacinamide can be beneficial. Always consult with a dermatologist if you're unsure which products are best for your skin type or if you experience severe acne or irritation. Remember, consistency is key in any skincare routine, and it may take time to see results.

Many acne lesions indicate poor facial metabolism. Using a gentle cleanser to wash your face, avoiding squeezing pimples, and applying glycolic acid gel before bed are more conservative approaches. Glycolic acid peels and blue light therapy are also effective treatments.
