Inquire about recommended physicians?

Hello, doctor.
I would like to ask if you could recommend a suitable Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physician at Taipei City Hospital.
Currently, my TCM doctor has not been able to manage my autonomic nervous system disorder symptoms, and I have been in treatment for a month and a half.
I am considering whether to switch doctors.
My Western medical history includes major depression, polycystic ovary syndrome, and mild mitral valve prolapse.
I have been on antidepressants for over four years, but my symptoms remain uncontrolled.
I have been dealing with autonomic nervous system disorder for nearly ten years, and I sometimes struggle to sleep even with 2 mg of flunitrazepam.

Currently, I am taking the following Chinese herbal medicine (daily dosage): Banxia Xiexin Decoction 4.0g, Jiawei Xiaoyao Powder 4.0g, Zhi Gan Cao Decoction 3.0g, He Huan Pi 1.5g, Yu Jin 1.0g, Squid Bone 0.5g, Hou Po 0.5g, and Fu Zi 0.5g.
For major depression, insomnia, and polycystic ovary syndrome, I am on the following Western medications (daily dosage): brexpiprazole 1mg, estazolam 2mg, bupropion 300mg, agomelatine 25mg, lithium 300mg, atomoxetine 25mg, estradiol 0.035mg + cyproterone acetate 2mg, and metformin 500mg.

I am experiencing many psychosomatic symptoms, including palpitations, dizziness, nausea, chest tightness and pain, lower abdominal pain, upper abdominal pain, recurrent constipation and diarrhea, headaches, extreme hunger but inability to eat, and worsening depressive symptoms.
I feel uncomfortable almost every day and often experience three or four symptoms simultaneously, leading to nausea that prevents me from eating, dry heaving when lying down, and chest tightness that persists even after taking sleeping pills, resulting in sleepless nights.
These symptoms are very distressing and uncomfortable for me, and I hope to find a solution through TCM.
Thank you for your assistance, doctor.

When seeking recommendations for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) doctors in Taipei, especially for complex conditions like autonomic nervous system disorders, it is crucial to find practitioners who have experience in treating such multifaceted health issues. Given your history of major depressive disorder, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and the symptoms you are experiencing, it would be beneficial to consult with TCM practitioners who specialize in mental health and gynecological disorders.

In Taipei, several hospitals and clinics offer TCM services. One notable option is the Taipei City Hospital, which has a dedicated TCM department. You may want to inquire about specific doctors who have a good reputation for treating conditions similar to yours. Some recommended TCM practitioners in Taipei include:
1. Dr. Chen Wei-Lun - Known for his expertise in treating mental health issues and autonomic nervous system disorders.

2. Dr. Lin Chih-Hsiang - Specializes in gynecological health and has experience with PCOS and related symptoms.

3. Dr. Huang Yu-Chin - Focuses on holistic approaches to complex health issues, including insomnia and anxiety.

It is advisable to check the hospital's website or call their TCM department for the latest information on available doctors, their specialties, and consultation hours.
Regarding your current treatment, it seems you are on a combination of Western medications for depression and PCOS, along with a TCM herbal regimen. While TCM can be beneficial, it is essential to communicate with both your TCM practitioner and your Western medicine doctor about your treatment plans. This coordination can help avoid potential interactions between herbal remedies and prescribed medications.

Your symptoms, including palpitations, dizziness, nausea, chest tightness, and gastrointestinal issues, suggest a significant imbalance that TCM aims to address through herbal medicine, acupuncture, and lifestyle modifications. The herbal formula you are currently taking includes several ingredients that are traditionally used to calm the mind and support digestive health. However, if you have not seen improvement after a month and a half, it may be worth discussing with your TCM doctor the possibility of adjusting the herbal formula or exploring different treatment modalities.

In TCM, the approach is often personalized, and practitioners may adjust the treatment based on your response. If you feel that your current TCM doctor is not addressing your concerns adequately, seeking a second opinion or changing practitioners could be beneficial.
In summary, when looking for a TCM doctor in Taipei, consider those with experience in treating mental health and gynecological issues. Ensure open communication between your TCM and Western medicine providers to create a cohesive treatment plan that addresses your complex health needs. Remember, finding the right practitioner may take time, but it is essential for your overall well-being.
