Menstrual irregularities
Hello Doctor, my last menstrual period started on April 4th, with an average cycle of 26-28 days and lasting for 5 days, ending completely on April 12th.
I had sexual intercourse on April 19th and April 26th, and only used a condom afterward.
My period started again on May 2nd; the first day had a normal flow (two super absorbent tampons were saturated), the second day I saturated one tampon overnight, and then the bleeding significantly decreased on the third day, leaving only a slight amount before it stopped.
I have been experiencing nausea during these days.
Is there a possibility of pregnancy? Could this bleeding be implantation bleeding or just my period? Thank you.
(From the end of April to May 3rd, I took a week of medication for urinary tract infection and benzarone for varicose veins.)

If you're unsure, you can take a pregnancy test.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
Understanding irregular menstrual cycles can be quite complex, especially when considering the possibility of implantation bleeding. Based on your description, you have a regular menstrual cycle that typically lasts between 26 to 28 days, and you experienced a change in your bleeding pattern during your most recent cycle.
Implantation bleeding occurs when a fertilized egg attaches itself to the lining of the uterus, which can happen about 6 to 12 days after conception. This type of bleeding is usually lighter and shorter than a regular menstrual period, often described as spotting. In your case, the bleeding you experienced on May 2nd, which started normally but then significantly reduced by the second day, could potentially be indicative of implantation bleeding, especially if it was lighter than your usual flow.
However, it is essential to consider other factors that could influence your menstrual cycle and bleeding patterns. The medications you mentioned, such as those for urinary tract infections and benzarone for varicose veins, could potentially affect your cycle. Stress, hormonal fluctuations, and changes in lifestyle can also lead to irregularities in menstrual cycles.
Given that you had unprotected intercourse on April 19th and April 26th, there is a possibility of pregnancy, especially if you experienced symptoms such as nausea, which can be an early sign of pregnancy. However, the only way to confirm pregnancy is through a home pregnancy test or a blood test conducted by a healthcare provider. It is advisable to wait until at least the first day of your expected period for the most accurate results from a home pregnancy test.
If you suspect that the bleeding you experienced is implantation bleeding rather than your regular menstrual cycle, it is crucial to monitor your symptoms closely. If you continue to experience nausea, fatigue, or any other unusual symptoms, it would be wise to consult with a healthcare professional for further evaluation. They can provide you with a more comprehensive assessment and guide you on the next steps, including the possibility of a pregnancy test.
In summary, while the bleeding you experienced could be implantation bleeding, it is essential to consider the context of your menstrual cycle, recent sexual activity, and any medications you are taking. If you have any concerns or if your symptoms persist, seeking medical advice is the best course of action.
