Blurred vision with contact lenses
Hello Doctor, I have over 200 degrees in my left eye (contact lens prescription -2.25) and over 400 degrees in my right eye (contact lens prescription -4.00).
I purchased contact lenses at an optical shop yesterday, and after trying them on today, I noticed that my vision is somewhat blurry.
I can see well up close, but distant vision is blurry, as if I weren't wearing glasses at all.
I would like to ask if this could be due to an insufficient prescription or if there might be other possibilities.
Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Hello, blurred vision can be caused by various factors.
These include incorrect prescription, unsuitable contact lenses, or adaptation issues with the eyes.
However, to determine the exact cause, it is recommended that you consult an ophthalmologist or optometrist for an examination.

Hello! Thank you for your question regarding blurry vision while wearing contact lenses. It's understandable to feel concerned when your vision doesn't meet your expectations, especially after investing in new lenses. Let's explore the potential causes of your blurry vision and discuss some solutions.
Firstly, it's important to consider that blurry vision with contact lenses can arise from several factors. One of the most common reasons is an incorrect prescription. Since you mentioned that your left eye has a prescription of -2.25 and your right eye -4.00, it's crucial to ensure that the lenses you received match these specifications accurately. Even a slight discrepancy in the prescription can lead to blurred vision, particularly for distance viewing.
Another possibility is that the lenses may not be fitting properly. Contact lenses come in various shapes and sizes, and if the lenses do not conform well to the curvature of your eye, they can cause discomfort and visual disturbances. A poorly fitting lens can move around too much or not enough, leading to inconsistent vision. It’s advisable to return to the optometrist or the place where you purchased the lenses to have the fit checked.
Additionally, the quality of the lenses themselves can play a significant role. If the lenses are of lower quality or not designed for your specific vision needs (such as astigmatism or presbyopia), they may not provide the clarity you expect. Ensure that you are using lenses that are appropriate for your level of myopia and any other refractive errors you may have.
Another factor to consider is the condition of your eyes. Dry eyes can significantly affect vision clarity, especially when wearing contact lenses. If your eyes are not adequately lubricated, the lenses may not sit correctly on the surface of your eye, leading to blurred vision. If you suspect dryness, using rewetting drops specifically designed for contact lens wearers can help alleviate this issue.
Environmental factors can also contribute to blurry vision. For instance, if you are in a dry or windy environment, or if you have been staring at screens for extended periods without breaks, your eyes may become fatigued or dry, leading to blurred vision. It’s essential to practice good eye hygiene, including taking regular breaks from screens and ensuring your environment is conducive to eye health.
If you have ruled out these common causes and your vision remains blurry, it may be worthwhile to schedule a follow-up appointment with your eye care professional. They can perform a comprehensive eye exam to determine if there are any underlying issues that need to be addressed.
In summary, blurry vision with contact lenses can stem from an incorrect prescription, improper lens fit, lens quality, dry eyes, or environmental factors. By addressing these potential issues, you can work towards achieving clearer vision. If your symptoms persist, don’t hesitate to seek further evaluation from your eye care provider. They can provide tailored advice and solutions to ensure your contact lens experience is as comfortable and effective as possible. Thank you for reaching out, and I hope this information helps you find clarity in your vision!
