Orchitis and issues related to masturbation and frequent urination?
Hello doctor, I was diagnosed with gonorrhea on June 9th and took antibiotics for 12 days along with an intramuscular injection.
I later returned to the hospital for a urine test, and the gonorrhea was cleared.
However, I started experiencing dull pain in my left testicle.
I consulted a doctor who said it was nothing serious, but since the ultrasound at that hospital had a long wait time, I went to a larger hospital.
The ultrasound there revealed that I have epididymitis.
During this time, I also experienced symptoms of frequent urination and difficulty urinating.
So far, I have been taking 500 mg of Ciprofloxacin for 11 days, but I still experience a slight burning sensation during urination.
The doctor also prescribed Betmiga 50 mg and UrOgeN 50 mg, which have gradually improved my condition, but not significantly.
Today, after masturbating and ejaculating, the frequency of urination and burning sensation has intensified.
I would like to ask the doctor if it is normal to still experience intermittent pain after taking antibiotics for two weeks.
Additionally, should I refrain from masturbation? If so, for how long? I am very concerned about developing a chronic condition and would like to know how to avoid it.

Orchitis, or inflammation of the testicles, can indeed have an impact on urination and sexual function, including masturbation. In your case, it seems that you have experienced a series of complications following a gonorrhea infection, which is not uncommon. The treatment you received with antibiotics is appropriate for addressing the infection, but the lingering symptoms can be concerning.
Firstly, it is important to understand that orchitis can cause discomfort and pain in the testicles, which may radiate to the lower abdomen and affect urination. The inflammation can lead to symptoms such as frequent urination, a burning sensation during urination, and even difficulty in urinating. These symptoms can persist even after the infection has been treated, as the inflammation may take time to resolve.
Regarding your question about the pain persisting after two weeks of antibiotic treatment, it is not unusual for some discomfort to linger. The inflammation may still be present, and it can take time for the body to heal completely. However, if the pain is severe or worsening, it is essential to follow up with your healthcare provider to rule out any complications, such as an abscess or chronic infection.
As for masturbation, it is generally advisable to avoid any activities that may exacerbate the pain or discomfort during the healing process. If you are experiencing increased pain or burning sensations after ejaculation, it may be wise to refrain from masturbation until you have fully recovered. The duration of abstinence can vary, but it is often recommended to wait until you feel comfortable and pain-free. Consulting with your doctor about when it is safe to resume sexual activities is a good idea.
To prevent the development of chronic orchitis or other complications, it is crucial to follow your doctor's recommendations closely. This includes completing the full course of antibiotics, attending follow-up appointments, and reporting any new or worsening symptoms promptly. Additionally, maintaining good hygiene and avoiding irritants can help reduce the risk of further infections.
In summary, while it is not uncommon to experience lingering symptoms after an episode of orchitis, it is essential to monitor your condition closely and communicate with your healthcare provider. Avoiding masturbation until you feel comfortable and pain-free is advisable, and taking steps to prevent further complications will be beneficial for your overall health. If symptoms persist or worsen, do not hesitate to seek further medical evaluation.
