Genital odor

Hello! I am 19 years old and have not had sexual intercourse, but I have noticed an unusual odor from my genital area.
My last menstrual period started on February 29 and lasted about a week.
Recently, when I wipe after using the restroom, I have noticed a yellowish, thick discharge with a bit of blood in it.
What could be the cause of this? If I go to see a doctor, will an internal examination be necessary? I feel a bit embarrassed about that! The amount of my menstrual flow is not very heavy; the first and second days were relatively normal, but after the third day, it decreased significantly.
Is this considered normal? Also, my breasts are very small, and no matter how much weight I gain, they do not change much.
Could this be due to insufficient female hormones? Should I get checked? What kind of tests would be necessary?

Hello: You may have an increased amount of ovulatory discharge.
If you still have this much vaginal discharge in a week, treatment will be necessary, but an internal examination is not required.
Your menstrual cycle seems to be normal.
The small size of your breasts may be related to your body constitution; you can try eating more high-protein foods to see if they grow a bit.

It’s understandable to feel concerned about unusual vaginal odor and discharge, especially at a young age. Based on your description, there are several factors to consider regarding your symptoms.

Firstly, the presence of a yellowish, thick discharge with a hint of blood can indicate a few possibilities. One common cause could be a vaginal infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection. Bacterial vaginosis often presents with a fishy odor and a grayish discharge, while a yeast infection typically results in a thick, white discharge and intense itching. However, the presence of blood in your discharge could suggest other issues, such as hormonal fluctuations or even a cervical irritation, especially if you are close to your menstrual cycle.

Given that you mentioned your last menstrual period ended about a week ago, it’s possible that the discharge you’re experiencing is related to your menstrual cycle. After menstruation, some women may notice a change in their discharge, which can sometimes appear yellowish or slightly bloody, particularly if there was any residual blood that mixed with normal vaginal secretions. However, if the odor is strong or unpleasant, it may indicate an infection that needs to be addressed.

Regarding your concern about needing an internal examination if you decide to see a doctor, it’s important to know that a healthcare provider will typically assess your symptoms and may recommend a pelvic exam to better understand the cause of your discharge and odor. While it can feel embarrassing, remember that healthcare professionals are trained to handle such situations with sensitivity and confidentiality. They will prioritize your comfort and well-being.

As for your concern about breast size and potential hormonal imbalances, breast development is influenced by various factors, including genetics, body weight, and hormonal levels. If you feel that your breast development is not typical for your age, it might be worth discussing with a healthcare provider. They can evaluate your overall health and hormone levels through blood tests if necessary.

In summary, it is advisable to consult a healthcare provider about your symptoms, especially since they involve changes in discharge and odor. They can perform the necessary examinations and tests to determine the underlying cause and recommend appropriate treatment. It’s always better to seek medical advice when you have concerns about your health, as early intervention can prevent more serious issues down the line. Remember, your health is important, and addressing these symptoms can lead to better overall well-being.
