Red spots on the glans?
After having sexual intercourse with my girlfriend, several small red spots appeared on the surface of my glans a few hours later.
They are not painful or itchy and disappear in 2 to 3 days.
What could be the reason for this? During intercourse, my girlfriend had a white discharge from her vagina; is that normal vaginal discharge? Is it contagious?

The appearance of red spots on the glans (the head of the penis) after sexual activity can be concerning, but it is important to understand the potential causes and implications. Based on the information provided, there are several possible explanations for the red spots you are observing.
1. Friction or Irritation: One of the most common reasons for red spots on the glans after sexual activity is friction or irritation. During intercourse, especially if there is insufficient lubrication, the friction can cause minor abrasions or irritation to the sensitive skin of the glans. This can lead to temporary redness or small spots that typically resolve within a few days, as you have described.
2. Allergic Reaction: Another possibility is an allergic reaction to a substance that came into contact with the glans. This could be due to latex in condoms, lubricants, or even personal care products used by either partner. If the red spots are accompanied by swelling or other symptoms, it may be worth considering an allergy.
3. Infection: While you mentioned that the spots are not painful or itchy, it is still important to consider the possibility of a mild infection. Conditions such as balanitis (inflammation of the glans) can occur due to various factors, including poor hygiene, yeast infections, or sexually transmitted infections (STIs). If the spots persist or if you notice any additional symptoms (such as discharge, pain, or itching), it would be advisable to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation.
4. Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): Although the absence of pain or itching makes STIs less likely, it is still a possibility that should not be overlooked. Some STIs can present with minimal or no symptoms initially. If you have concerns about potential exposure to STIs, it is important to get tested.
Regarding your question about the white liquid your girlfriend experiences during sexual activity, this is likely to be normal vaginal discharge, commonly referred to as "leukorrhea" or "white discharge." This discharge can vary in consistency and amount depending on the menstrual cycle and other factors. It is typically a normal physiological response and is not inherently infectious. However, if the discharge has an unusual odor, color, or is accompanied by itching or irritation, it may indicate an infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection.
As for the concern about transmission, if your girlfriend has a normal vaginal discharge, it is generally not considered infectious unless there is an underlying infection present. If either partner has an STI, there is a risk of transmission, and it is crucial to engage in safe sexual practices, including the use of condoms, to reduce this risk.
In summary, the red spots on the glans are likely due to friction or irritation, but if they persist or worsen, a medical evaluation is recommended. The white discharge from your girlfriend is likely normal, but any changes in its characteristics should be discussed with a healthcare provider. Open communication with your partner about sexual health and regular check-ups can help ensure both of you remain healthy and informed.
