Chest pain
About six years ago, I had a fibroma on my right side, approximately the size of a fist.
The doctor recommended surgical removal, and the biopsy results were benign.
After the surgery, I have occasionally felt discomfort in my right chest, possibly due to the loss of some tissue.
Recently, over the past two days, I have started to experience pain in my right chest that worsens with vigorous movements or pressure.
I have a habit of sleeping on my stomach, and my menstrual cycle is approaching, which makes me quite worried.
Should I consider getting an examination? Thank you.

It is common to experience occasional pain after chest surgery, and this is generally not a cause for concern.
However, it is important to have regular follow-ups.

Chest pain can be a concerning symptom, especially for women, as it can sometimes indicate serious underlying health issues. Given your history of having a benign fibroid tumor removed from your right breast, it is understandable that you would be particularly vigilant about any discomfort in that area.
First and foremost, it is important to differentiate between types of chest pain. Pain that is sharp, localized, and associated with movement or pressure (such as pressing on the area or moving your arms) is often musculoskeletal in nature. This type of pain can arise from muscle strain, inflammation, or even nerve irritation, especially if you have a habit of sleeping in positions that may put pressure on your chest.
However, since you mentioned that this discomfort has recently changed and is accompanied by a history of surgery, it is prudent to consider a few factors. If the pain is persistent, worsening, or accompanied by other symptoms such as shortness of breath, dizziness, or radiating pain to the arm or jaw, you should seek medical attention immediately. These could be signs of a more serious condition, such as a heart issue, even though it is less common in younger women.
In your case, since you also mentioned that your menstrual cycle is approaching, it is possible that hormonal changes could be contributing to your discomfort. Many women experience breast tenderness or pain related to their menstrual cycle due to fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone levels. This can lead to swelling and sensitivity in breast tissue, which might explain the discomfort you are feeling.
Given your history of surgery and the recent onset of pain, it would be wise to consult with your healthcare provider. They may recommend imaging studies, such as an ultrasound or mammogram, to ensure that there are no new developments in the breast tissue. It is always better to err on the side of caution, especially when it comes to changes in your body that you are concerned about.
In summary, while your symptoms may be benign and related to musculoskeletal issues or hormonal changes, it is essential to monitor the situation closely. If the pain persists or worsens, or if you experience any alarming symptoms, do not hesitate to seek medical advice. Regular check-ups and open communication with your healthcare provider are key components of maintaining your health, especially in the context of women's health issues.
