Increased vaginal discharge: Is it a sign of pregnancy or a precursor to menstruation?

I estimate that my period will arrive around the 7th or 8th.
On the 7th and 8th, I felt the usual signs of menstruation, such as breast tenderness and some abdominal bloating.
These sensations are similar to what I typically experience before my period.
However, today those feelings have diminished, although my breasts still feel somewhat full, and I have noticed an increase in vaginal discharge (which is normal, with no unusual odor or color).
I am very concerned about whether I might be pregnant or if there are other factors causing my period to be delayed.
On August 1st, I had intimate contact with my boyfriend.
Since it was our first time, we wanted to try penetration, but when he was about to insert, I couldn't handle it and he stopped.
I also took precautions by cleaning his penis with tissue beforehand due to concerns about pregnancy.
I feel it is unlikely that I could be pregnant, but the delay in my period is causing me significant anxiety.
I kindly ask for your guidance on this matter.
Thank you.

Dear users: Hello! With advancements in technology, urine pregnancy tests can easily and early confirm whether a person is pregnant.
If menstruation is delayed and there are concerns about possible pregnancy, a urine test can provide clarity.

Increased vaginal discharge can be a sign of both pregnancy and the menstrual cycle, but the context and accompanying symptoms are crucial in determining the underlying cause.
During the menstrual cycle, hormonal fluctuations can lead to changes in vaginal discharge. In the days leading up to menstruation, many women experience an increase in discharge due to rising estrogen levels, which can cause the cervical mucus to become more abundant and sometimes more noticeable. This discharge is typically clear or white and may have a slightly thicker consistency.
On the other hand, increased vaginal discharge can also be an early sign of pregnancy. When a woman becomes pregnant, her body undergoes significant hormonal changes, particularly an increase in progesterone. This hormone helps maintain the pregnancy and can lead to an increase in vaginal discharge. In early pregnancy, this discharge is usually clear or milky and is often odorless.
In your case, you mentioned experiencing breast tenderness, abdominal bloating, and an increase in discharge, which are all common symptoms associated with both premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and early pregnancy. The fact that your period has not yet arrived could be a sign of pregnancy, especially since you had intimate contact with your boyfriend. However, it is important to note that the likelihood of pregnancy from the encounter you described seems low, given that penetration did not occur.
If you are concerned about the possibility of being pregnant, the best course of action is to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are designed to detect the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. For the most accurate results, it is recommended to take the test after your missed period.

If the test is positive, it would be advisable to schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and to discuss your options moving forward. If the test is negative and your period still does not arrive, it may be worth consulting with a healthcare professional to explore other potential reasons for the delay, such as stress, hormonal imbalances, or other health issues.

In summary, while increased vaginal discharge can be indicative of both pregnancy and the menstrual cycle, the context of your symptoms and the timing of your menstrual cycle are essential in making a determination. Taking a pregnancy test will provide clarity, and if you have further concerns, seeking medical advice is always a prudent step.
