There is a small protrusion on the skin of the foot?
Hello Doctor: I have noticed some venous engorgement in my legs, and recently I discovered small red spots appearing on the area from my calves to the upper thighs, just above the knees.
I'm not sure what these are, and I'm quite worried.
Additionally, do women often experience pigmentation deposits on the inner thighs that lead to darker skin tones? Is there a way to improve this? I also have enlarged pores, but I've been very diligent about my cleansing routine.
Why hasn't this improved? I would appreciate your answers, Doctor.

1.
Online consultations cannot provide diagnoses; please visit a dermatologist for issues related to your legs.
2.
Darkening on the inner thighs is often seen in individuals with higher body weight, but it should be evaluated in a clinical setting for accurate assessment.
3.
Enlarged pores are not caused by a lack of cleanliness, so no amount of cleaning will significantly change them.
Pore size varies among individuals due to genetic factors, but adults should not have completely invisible pores.
You may also consult a dermatologist for further analysis and treatment options.

More Info
When it comes to skin issues, particularly the appearance of red bumps on the legs and darkening of the inner thighs, it is essential to consider a variety of potential causes and underlying conditions. Based on your description, the red bumps you are experiencing could be attributed to several factors, including but not limited to, folliculitis, contact dermatitis, or even a form of urticaria (hives).
Folliculitis is an inflammation of the hair follicles, which can occur due to bacterial or fungal infections, irritation from shaving, or friction from clothing. This condition often presents as small red bumps that may be itchy or tender. If the bumps are not painful or itchy, they may be less likely to be folliculitis and could be related to other skin conditions.
Contact dermatitis is another possibility, which arises when the skin reacts to an irritant or allergen. This could be due to soaps, lotions, or even fabrics that come into contact with your skin. If you have recently changed any products or have been exposed to new materials, this could explain the sudden appearance of red bumps.
Urticaria, or hives, can also manifest as raised red bumps on the skin and is often triggered by allergens, stress, or physical stimuli. If you notice that the bumps appear after certain activities or exposures, it may be worth considering this as a potential cause.
Regarding the darkening of the inner thighs, this is often due to a condition known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which can occur after skin irritation or inflammation. In women, this area can also darken due to friction, hormonal changes, or even obesity. The skin in this area may be more prone to pigmentation changes due to the thickness and the nature of the skin.
To address these concerns, it is advisable to consult with a dermatologist who can provide a thorough examination and accurate diagnosis. They may recommend treatments such as topical corticosteroids for inflammation, antifungal or antibacterial creams for infections, or even laser treatments for hyperpigmentation.
In terms of improving the appearance of darkened skin, regular exfoliation and the use of brightening agents such as vitamin C or niacinamide can help. However, it is crucial to approach this with caution, especially if you have sensitive skin or are prone to irritation.
As for the issue of enlarged pores, it is essential to maintain a consistent skincare routine that includes cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. Products containing salicylic acid or glycolic acid can help to unclog pores and improve their appearance. However, if you are already diligent about your skincare and still see no improvement, it may be beneficial to seek professional advice, as a dermatologist can recommend stronger treatments or procedures tailored to your skin type.
In conclusion, while the appearance of red bumps and darkened skin can be concerning, many treatments and management strategies are available. Consulting a healthcare professional will provide you with the best course of action tailored to your specific needs. Remember, self-diagnosing can often lead to unnecessary worry, so seeking professional guidance is always the best approach.
