Pain Above the Scrotum: Possible Causes and Solutions - Urology

Pain

I've been experiencing pain in the area above the scrotum, close to the pelvis, for the past few weeks.
However, there are no noticeable abnormalities in the urethra or other parts of the urinary tract.
Additionally, there is no pain in other areas, including the penis, and I haven't engaged in any sexual activity for almost a few months.
I'm wondering what might be causing this issue, as the frequency of pain has increased.
Previously, I would only feel pain after DIY activities or when retracting after an erection.
Recently, I'm not sure why this is happening.
Could it be due to having had too frequent sexual activity in the past? Also, are there any good doctors in Taichung that I could consult?

Understanding pain above the scrotum, particularly in the area close to the pelvis, can be concerning and may arise from various underlying causes. Given your description, it seems that the pain is localized and does not extend to the urethra or other areas of the genitalia, which is a positive sign as it may indicate that the issue is not related to a urinary tract infection or other systemic infections.

One possible cause of pain in this region could be related to the testicles or the surrounding structures. Conditions such as epididymitis (inflammation of the epididymis) or orchitis (inflammation of the testicles) could lead to discomfort. These conditions are often associated with infections, but they can also occur due to trauma or prolonged pressure. Another possibility is a hernia, particularly an inguinal hernia, which can cause pain in the groin area and may become more noticeable with certain movements or activities.

Muscle strain or tension in the pelvic area can also lead to discomfort. If you have been engaging in activities that involve heavy lifting or straining, this could contribute to the pain you are experiencing. Additionally, conditions such as testicular torsion, although typically presenting with more acute and severe pain, should be considered if the pain worsens or if you experience any swelling.

Regarding your concern about the frequency of sexual activity, while excessive sexual activity can lead to temporary discomfort or soreness, it is unlikely to be the sole cause of persistent pain. However, if you have experienced any trauma or injury during sexual activity, this could potentially lead to pain in the area.

It's important to note that while some causes of scrotal pain may be benign, others may require medical attention. If the pain persists, worsens, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as swelling, redness, fever, or changes in urination, it is crucial to seek medical evaluation. A healthcare provider may perform a physical examination and possibly recommend imaging studies, such as an ultrasound, to assess the structures in the area.

In terms of finding a good doctor in Taichung, I recommend looking for a urologist, as they specialize in male reproductive health and urinary tract issues. You can check local hospital websites or medical directories for qualified urologists in your area. Additionally, seeking recommendations from friends or family members who have had positive experiences with urologists can be helpful.

In summary, while there are several potential causes for the pain you are experiencing above the scrotum, it is essential to monitor your symptoms closely and consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation. Early diagnosis and treatment can help address any underlying issues and alleviate your discomfort.
