The inner thigh is long..?

A few months ago, I developed two small, pimple-like bumps on the inner side of my thigh, one larger than the other.
The larger one, which is not painful, seems to have grown recently to about 1 cm.
What could this be, and do I need to go to the hospital for an examination?

It would be better to visit a dermatology clinic for an examination.
Wishing you safety and good health.

When it comes to skin bumps, particularly on sensitive areas like the inner thigh, it’s essential to approach the situation with caution and awareness. Based on your description of having two small bumps that resemble acne, with one of them increasing in size to about 1 cm, there are several potential causes to consider.
Firstly, these bumps could be benign conditions such as folliculitis, which is an inflammation of the hair follicles often caused by bacteria or irritation. Another possibility is a sebaceous cyst, which is a non-cancerous lump filled with a protein called keratin. These cysts can sometimes become inflamed or infected, leading to changes in size or discomfort. Additionally, conditions like molluscum contagiosum, a viral infection that causes small, painless bumps, could also be a consideration, especially if you have had any recent skin-to-skin contact with others.

However, the fact that one of the bumps has increased in size is particularly noteworthy. While many skin bumps are harmless, any change in size, color, or texture warrants a closer look. It’s important to remember that skin changes can sometimes indicate underlying issues, including infections or, in rare cases, skin cancers.
Given these factors, it is advisable to seek medical advice, especially since the bump is growing. A dermatologist can perform a thorough examination and may recommend a biopsy or other diagnostic tests if necessary. This will help determine the exact nature of the bump and whether any treatment is required.
In terms of when to seek medical advice, here are some guidelines:
1. Size Change: If a bump is growing or changing in appearance, it’s time to consult a healthcare professional.

2. Pain or Discomfort: While you mentioned that the bumps are not painful, any new pain or discomfort should prompt a visit to the doctor.

3. Duration: If the bumps have been present for several weeks without improvement, it’s wise to get them checked.

4. Associated Symptoms: If you experience other symptoms such as itching, redness, or discharge, these could indicate an infection or other skin condition that needs attention.

In conclusion, while many skin bumps can be benign and self-limiting, the growth of a bump, especially in a sensitive area, should not be overlooked. Consulting with a dermatologist will provide you with the necessary information and peace of mind regarding your skin health. Remember, early intervention is often key in managing skin conditions effectively.
