Hello Doctor: For the past year, I have been feeling extremely sleepy almost every day.
I average about 10 hours of sleep per day and can take an additional 2-hour nap in the afternoon.
If I only sleep for 7 or 8 hours in a day, I feel extremely fatigued and have a strong urge to lie down and sleep.
I can also nap for about 4 more hours during the afternoon.
In summary, I need about 12 to 14 hours of sleep daily to feel adequate.
If I force myself to only sleep for 8 hours, I enter a state of slight confusion, which severely affects my work efficiency.
Doctor, do you think this could be narcolepsy? Should I see a doctor?
