Regarding orbital fat grafting surgery?

Hello, doctor! Last year, I underwent autologous fat grafting surgery to fill in the hollows under my eyes.
I had previously lost too much weight and decided to add some fat, but now I've gained a bit of weight, and the areas where the fat was injected look somewhat odd and a bit swollen.
I'm wondering if it's possible to remove the fat that was previously grafted.
Currently, when I touch the area or look upwards, I feel a foreign body sensation, and I can feel something when I touch it.
Is it possible to remove it? What would the approximate cost be? Also, how large would the scar be after removal? Thank you, doctor!

Eye surgeries are not particularly difficult (at least patients often believe so), but performing surgery too frequently on the same area can lead to long-term complications.
It is advisable to consult the original surgeon who performed the fat grafting to discuss whether there is a need for any revisions to the irregularities.

When it comes to fat grafting in the eye socket, it is indeed possible to remove the fat that has been previously injected. This procedure is often referred to as fat removal or liposuction, and it can be performed if the patient is experiencing discomfort or dissatisfaction with the results of the initial fat grafting.
Fat grafting is a popular cosmetic procedure used to fill in hollows or depressions, such as those found in the eye socket area. However, as you mentioned, if the area appears too full or "puffy" after gaining weight, it can lead to an unnatural appearance. This is because the fat cells can expand with weight gain, leading to a more pronounced bulge.
In terms of the procedure itself, the removal of fat from the eye socket typically involves a small incision, which may be made in a discreet location to minimize visible scarring. The surgeon will then carefully extract the excess fat. The sensation of having a foreign body or the feeling of something being "off" is not uncommon after fat grafting, especially if the grafted fat has not integrated well with the surrounding tissues.
Regarding costs, the price for fat removal can vary widely depending on several factors, including the surgeon's experience, the complexity of the procedure, and the geographical location of the practice. On average, you might expect to pay anywhere from $1,500 to $4,000 for this type of procedure. It’s important to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon or oculoplastic surgeon who specializes in eye-related cosmetic procedures to get a more accurate estimate based on your specific situation.

As for scarring, the goal of any skilled surgeon is to minimize visible scars. The incision for fat removal in the eye area is usually quite small and can often be hidden in natural folds or creases of the skin. Most patients find that any scarring that does occur is minimal and fades significantly over time. However, individual healing responses can vary, and factors such as skin type, age, and overall health can influence scar formation.

Before proceeding with any surgical intervention, it is crucial to have a thorough consultation with your surgeon. They will assess your specific concerns, discuss your expectations, and provide you with detailed information about the procedure, recovery, and potential risks. It’s also an opportunity to discuss any questions you may have about the procedure, including recovery time and post-operative care.

In summary, fat grafting removal from the eye socket is a feasible option for those who are unhappy with their results. Costs can vary, and scarring is typically minimal with proper surgical techniques. Always ensure you consult with a qualified professional to discuss your options and ensure the best possible outcome.
