I feel like I'm about to pass out?
Hello Dr.
Huang, I am inquiring about extracranial vascular examinations.
Does Tainan Hospital offer the two tests the doctor mentioned? Can I go there for the examinations, even if I have to pay out of pocket? Recently, my symptoms have been getting increasingly strange.
The swelling above my right eye has subsided, but it seems like there is a layer of tissue missing inside, and it feels loose.
The symptoms have now shifted to the area above my right ear, where I can feel the blood vessels expanding and contracting, similar to a pulsation.
I also experience tightness and stiffness in the area above my mouth and below my nose.
My body, including my arms and legs, feels weak, and I sometimes feel faint and anxious.
I am very worried.
I live in Tainan and went to a hospital that scheduled a vascular ultrasound for me, but I have to wait until this Thursday for the examination.
I feel quite lost.

More Info
Hello, thank you for reaching out with your concerns. It sounds like you are experiencing a range of neurological symptoms that are understandably causing you distress. Based on your description, it seems you are dealing with sensations of pressure, tightness, and possibly vascular changes in your head and face, along with feelings of dizziness and anxiety.
Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that the symptoms you are experiencing can be quite complex and may stem from various underlying issues. The sensations of tightness and pressure in your face, particularly around the eyes and ears, could be related to several factors, including tension-type headaches, migraines, or even issues related to the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system regulates many involuntary bodily functions, and when it is out of balance, it can lead to a variety of symptoms, including those you are experiencing.
You mentioned that you have had a previous examination regarding vascular issues, and it is good that you are following up with further tests such as a vascular ultrasound. This is a crucial step in ruling out any significant vascular abnormalities that could be contributing to your symptoms. If you are concerned about the availability of tests in Tainan, I recommend contacting local hospitals or clinics directly to inquire about the specific tests you need. Many hospitals have the capability to perform vascular imaging, and they can provide you with information on whether they accept self-pay patients.
In addition to the vascular concerns, the feelings of dizziness and the sensation of your limbs feeling "off" could be indicative of anxiety or stress-related responses. It is not uncommon for individuals experiencing high levels of stress or anxiety to develop physical symptoms that can mimic neurological issues. This can include feelings of lightheadedness, muscle tension, and even sensations of numbness or tingling in the extremities.
Given the complexity of your symptoms, it may be beneficial to seek a multidisciplinary approach to your care. This could involve not only neurologists but also mental health professionals who can help address any underlying anxiety or stress that may be exacerbating your physical symptoms. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) has been shown to be effective in managing anxiety and can provide you with coping strategies to deal with overwhelming feelings.
Lastly, while waiting for your upcoming tests, it is essential to practice self-care. This can include engaging in relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises, mindfulness meditation, or gentle physical activity, which can help alleviate some of the tension and anxiety you are experiencing.
In summary, while it is crucial to investigate the potential vascular issues you are concerned about, it is equally important to consider the role of stress and anxiety in your symptoms. Make sure to communicate openly with your healthcare providers about all your symptoms and concerns, and do not hesitate to seek a second opinion if you feel it is necessary. Your health and well-being are paramount, and taking proactive steps towards understanding and addressing your symptoms is essential. I wish you the best in your upcoming evaluations and hope you find relief soon.
