Suspected blister beetle??
1.
Recently, I experienced two incidents under a tree.
The first time, my shoulder felt burning and painful.
The second time, I felt an itchy sensation on the back of my neck, and after scratching it, I experienced burning and stabbing pain within a few minutes.
The next day, it became swollen, and when I left it alone, it eventually formed a scab and healed.
I wonder if this was caused by a blister beetle?
2.
My calf suffered a severe abrasion from a car accident.
After about a week of daily dressing changes with iodine and anti-inflammatory powder purchased from the pharmacy, I noticed a small area that has become pus-filled.
Should I continue to treat it myself, or should I seek medical attention?

The first issue is likely blister beetle dermatitis.
The second concern is that you may also have an allergic reaction, and you should visit a dermatology clinic for evaluation and treatment.
Wishing you peace, and Jesus loves you.

When it comes to skin reactions, it is essential to differentiate between various potential causes, including insect bites, allergic reactions, infections, and other dermatological conditions. Based on your description, it seems you have experienced two distinct issues: one possibly related to an insect bite and another concerning a wound from a car accident.
1. Insect Bites: The symptoms you described, such as burning, pain, and itching after being under a tree, could indeed be indicative of an insect bite, possibly from a beetle or another insect. The fact that the area became swollen and eventually scabbed over suggests a localized inflammatory response, which is common with insect bites. Insects like the "stink bug" or "blister beetle" can cause such reactions. If you suspect that the reaction is due to an insect, it is advisable to monitor the area for any signs of infection, such as increased redness, warmth, or pus. Over-the-counter antihistamines can help alleviate itching and swelling, but if the symptoms persist or worsen, seeking medical attention is recommended.
2. Wound Care: Regarding your leg injury from the car accident, the presence of pus is concerning and may indicate an infection. While applying iodine and anti-inflammatory powder is a good initial approach to wound care, the development of pus suggests that the wound may not be healing properly and could require more intensive treatment. It is crucial to keep the wound clean and dry, but if you notice any signs of infection—such as increased redness, swelling, warmth, or fever—it is imperative to seek medical attention. A healthcare professional may need to assess the wound, possibly drain any pus, and prescribe antibiotics if necessary.
Additional Considerations
- Infection vs. Allergic Reaction: It is important to note that allergic reactions can sometimes mimic infections. If you experience systemic symptoms such as fever, chills, or malaise alongside localized symptoms, this could indicate an infection rather than an allergic reaction.
- Wound Management: For your leg injury, if you choose to continue self-care, ensure that you are using sterile techniques when changing dressings. If the wound appears to worsen or does not show signs of healing after a few days, it is best to consult a healthcare provider.
- Preventive Measures: To prevent future insect bites, consider wearing protective clothing when outdoors, especially in areas with dense vegetation. Additionally, using insect repellent can help reduce the risk of bites.
- Skin Sensitivity: If you have a history of skin sensitivity or allergies, it may be beneficial to consult with a dermatologist. They can provide tailored advice on managing skin reactions and recommend appropriate treatments or preventive measures.
In summary, while your symptoms may be related to insect bites and wound care, it is essential to monitor your condition closely. If you notice any worsening symptoms or if you have concerns about infection, do not hesitate to seek medical attention. Proper diagnosis and treatment are crucial for effective recovery and to prevent complications.
