Strange growths appearing on the genital area?
In March or April of this year, a small growth appeared on the right side of the vaginal opening.
At first, I didn't pay much attention to it because it wasn't painful or itchy.
However, by June or July, it suddenly became unbearably itchy, and the growth seemed to be increasing in size.
The itching has become more frequent, and I often find myself scratching it, though I'm not sure if this is related to the growth's size.
Aside from the growth and intense itching, there is no unusual odor or abnormal discharge.
This issue has been troubling me for quite some time.
The growth on the right side is now significantly larger than when it first appeared, and I recently noticed a small growth has also developed on the left side of the vaginal opening, which is becoming increasingly itchy.
What can I do to resolve this issue? Should I see a gynecologist or a dermatologist?

It sounds like you're experiencing some concerning symptoms in the vaginal area, including the development of growths and persistent itching. Based on your description, there are several potential causes for these symptoms, and it's important to approach this situation with care.
Firstly, the presence of small growths in the vaginal area can be attributed to a variety of benign conditions. Common possibilities include:
1. Skin Tags or Warts: These are often harmless and can appear as small, flesh-colored bumps. They may not cause pain but can become irritated, especially if they are scratched or rubbed.
2. Bartholin's Gland Cysts: These cysts can form when the Bartholin's glands, located at the vaginal opening, become blocked. They can sometimes become infected, leading to swelling and discomfort.
3. Folliculitis: This is an inflammation of the hair follicles, which can occur in the genital area and may present as small, red bumps that can be itchy.
4. Vulvar Dermatitis: This condition can arise from irritation or allergic reactions to soaps, detergents, or other products. It can lead to itching and inflammation in the vulvar area.
5. Infections: Conditions such as yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis can cause itching and discomfort, although they typically present with additional symptoms like unusual discharge or odor.
Given that your symptoms have progressed to include increased itching and the growths have enlarged, it is advisable to seek medical attention. A healthcare professional, particularly a gynecologist, would be best suited to evaluate your condition. They can perform a physical examination and may conduct tests to determine the nature of the growths and the cause of your symptoms.
In terms of treatment, it will depend on the underlying cause. If the growths are benign, they may not require any treatment other than monitoring. However, if they are causing significant discomfort or if there is a concern about infection, your doctor may recommend appropriate treatments, which could include topical medications, drainage of cysts, or other interventions.
It's important to avoid self-diagnosing or treating the area without professional guidance, especially since scratching can lead to further irritation or infection. Maintaining good hygiene and avoiding irritants in the area can help alleviate some discomfort in the meantime.
In summary, while there are several benign explanations for your symptoms, the best course of action is to consult with a healthcare provider. They can provide a thorough evaluation and tailored treatment plan to address your concerns effectively. Don't hesitate to reach out for help; your health and comfort are paramount.
