Confusion
I would like to ask a question.
I am 24 years old and have a habit of masturbating, but I always try to avoid ejaculation.
Every time I feel close to ejaculating, I stop to prevent it (because after ejaculation, my testicles hurt and I feel more fatigued).
However, I do enjoy stimulating the glans and experiencing the sensation of impending ejaculation without actually letting it happen.
I would like to know if this practice has any negative effects on my body.
Also, I previously had varicocele; is this related? I would appreciate your help, doctor.
Thank you.

Hello, regarding masturbation, everyone has their own methods, and the purpose is to achieve self-pleasure.
I believe there is nothing wrong with your approach; in fact, for some patients with premature ejaculation, we may even recommend training in this manner to delay ejaculation.
The spermatic vein is unrelated to masturbation.

More Info
Delaying ejaculation during masturbation, as you described, is a practice that some individuals engage in for various reasons, including the desire to prolong sexual pleasure or to avoid the discomfort you mentioned. While this practice is not inherently harmful, there are several factors to consider regarding its potential effects on your health.
First, it is important to understand that the act of delaying ejaculation can lead to a build-up of sexual tension, which may result in heightened sensations and pleasure. However, consistently preventing ejaculation can also lead to discomfort or pain in the testicles, a condition often referred to as "blue balls." This discomfort arises from the accumulation of blood in the genital area without the release that occurs during ejaculation. While this is typically not serious and resolves with ejaculation or time, it can be uncomfortable.
Regarding your concern about the relationship between your practice and your history of varicocele (enlarged veins within the scrotum), it is essential to note that varicocele can affect testicular function and may lead to discomfort or pain. If you have a history of varicocele, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional to ensure that your practices do not exacerbate any underlying conditions. Varicocele can sometimes be associated with fertility issues, so if you have concerns about future fertility, discussing these with a urologist may be beneficial.
From a psychological perspective, the practice of delaying ejaculation may also have implications for your sexual health. If this behavior is driven by anxiety or fear of ejaculation, it could potentially lead to issues such as performance anxiety or difficulties in achieving orgasm during partnered sexual activity. It is crucial to maintain a healthy relationship with your sexual practices and to ensure that they do not stem from negative feelings or fears.
In terms of sexual health, there is no evidence to suggest that delaying ejaculation during masturbation has long-term negative effects on your health. However, if you find that this practice is causing you significant discomfort, anxiety, or affecting your sexual experiences negatively, it may be worth exploring alternative approaches or discussing your concerns with a healthcare provider or a therapist who specializes in sexual health.
In conclusion, while delaying ejaculation during masturbation is not inherently harmful, it is essential to listen to your body and be mindful of any discomfort or pain that arises. If you have concerns about your sexual health, varicocele, or any related issues, seeking advice from a qualified healthcare professional is always a good idea. They can provide personalized guidance based on your medical history and current health status.
