During erection

Hello doctor, I don't notice any prominent red spots on the glans when I'm not erect, but when I do become erect, I see many red spots on the glans.
Is this normal? Or could it be related to my fungal infection? I recently visited a doctor who prescribed me a cream called "Mibison," which is used to treat eczema, allergic and inflammatory skin diseases, as well as secondary bacterial and fungal infections (including candidiasis, as stated on the cream).
Or could it just be my anxiety? There is no pain or discomfort, but I am still worried.
Thank you.

Hello, after an erection, the blood flow can cause some small blood vessels at the glans to become engorged, which may sometimes appear as red lesions.
You can press down firmly on the area during an erection and then release to see if the redness temporarily disappears and then quickly reappears.
If that is the case, it is likely vascular in nature.
If you are still concerned, you can take a photo and bring it to the clinic for diagnosis.
Sincerely, Dr.

When it comes to the appearance of red spots on the glans during an erection, there are several factors to consider. First and foremost, it is important to understand that the glans (the head of the penis) is a highly vascularized area, meaning it has a rich supply of blood vessels. When a man becomes aroused, blood flow to the penis increases significantly, which can cause the glans to appear redder and more prominent. This is a normal physiological response and can sometimes lead to the appearance of small red spots or discolorations that may not be visible when the penis is flaccid.

However, if you have a history of fungal infections, such as candidiasis (commonly referred to as a yeast infection), it is essential to consider whether these red spots could be related to that condition. Fungal infections can cause inflammation and irritation, leading to changes in the appearance of the skin. The medication you mentioned, which is used to treat eczema, allergic reactions, and secondary bacterial and fungal infections, suggests that your healthcare provider is aware of potential underlying issues. If the red spots are accompanied by other symptoms such as itching, burning, or discharge, it would be prudent to follow up with your healthcare provider for further evaluation.

It's also worth noting that anxiety and stress can exacerbate concerns about bodily changes. If you find yourself overly focused on these red spots, it may be helpful to discuss your feelings with a healthcare professional who can provide reassurance and guidance. Psychological factors can sometimes amplify physical symptoms, leading to increased worry about what might be a normal variation in anatomy or a benign condition.

In summary, the appearance of red spots on the glans during an erection can be a normal response to increased blood flow. However, if you have a history of fungal infections or if the spots are accompanied by other concerning symptoms, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider for a thorough examination. They can determine whether any treatment is necessary or if your concerns are primarily psychological. Remember, maintaining open communication with your healthcare provider is key to addressing any health-related worries you may have.
