Black spots on the glans?
Two years ago, I discovered a black spot about 4mm in diameter next to the urethral opening on the glans (it looks somewhat like a bruise).
Upon closer inspection, it appears that there is a dark (purple-black) substance inside that is flat and does not protrude.
Touching, pressing, or poking it does not cause any pain.
I am unsure what this condition is.
Could it be related to a lack of sexual experience, excessive masturbation, or poor hygiene habits?

A: Hello, I think you should take a look at this.
Doctor: You should see a urologist or a dermatologist.
Generally, moles located in this area are more prone to friction, so if possible, it’s better to have them removed.
Of course, if it’s just some bruising, then no special treatment is necessary.

The appearance of black spots on the glans, particularly one that is approximately 4mm in diameter and resembles a bruise, can be concerning. It's important to understand that various factors can contribute to such changes in the skin, especially in sensitive areas like the genital region.
Firstly, the black spot you describe could be a benign condition such as a seborrheic keratosis, which is a non-cancerous skin growth that can appear anywhere on the body, including the genital area. These growths are usually harmless and do not require treatment unless they become bothersome or change in appearance. Another possibility is a melanocytic nevus, commonly known as a mole, which can also appear as a dark spot on the skin.
However, given the location and characteristics of the spot, it is crucial to consider other potential causes. For instance, a bruise or hematoma could form due to minor trauma, even if you are not aware of any injury. Additionally, conditions such as petechiae (small red or purple spots caused by bleeding under the skin) or even more serious conditions like melanoma, a type of skin cancer, should not be ruled out without proper evaluation.
Regarding your concerns about hygiene and sexual activity, while poor hygiene can lead to various skin conditions or infections, it is unlikely to be the sole cause of a black spot like the one you described. Masturbation itself is generally not associated with the development of skin lesions unless it leads to trauma or irritation.
It is essential to consult a healthcare professional, preferably a dermatologist or urologist, for a thorough examination. They may perform a physical examination and, if necessary, a biopsy to determine the exact nature of the spot. This is particularly important if the spot changes in size, shape, or color, or if you experience any other symptoms such as pain, itching, or discharge.
In terms of prevention and care, maintaining good hygiene is always advisable. This includes regular washing with mild soap and water, avoiding irritants, and wearing breathable underwear. If you have any underlying health conditions, such as diabetes or vascular issues, managing those effectively can also contribute to better skin health.
In conclusion, while the black spot on your glans may be benign, it is crucial to seek medical advice to rule out any serious conditions. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent potential complications and provide peace of mind. Remember, it is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to changes in your body, especially in sensitive areas.
