Confusion about skin symptoms
During this period, whether during the day or at night while trying to sleep, I often hear the sound of mosquitoes buzzing around my ears, but I can't see any mosquitoes.
Neither using an electric mosquito racket nor applying mosquito repellent seems to help.
Occasionally, my body itches, and I feel something jumping on my skin, yet I can't see anything.
As a result, I can't sleep every night; either I hear the buzzing sound of mosquitoes or feel something jumping on me that causes itching.
However, there is no redness or swelling on my skin.
I would appreciate your assistance in addressing this issue.
Thank you!
P.S.
I have a small dog at home; could it be fleas or dust mites from the dog? Also, why does my husband not hear the mosquito sounds or experience the symptoms I mentioned?

Hello: Generally, a common mosquito bite will not elicit a significant reaction, resulting in a small red spot surrounded by a white halo that is neither itchy nor painful.
Some individuals may be more prone to attracting mosquitoes.
If a small dog is bitten by fleas, it may experience redness, swelling, and intense itching.
Sincerely, Dr.

More Info
It sounds like you are experiencing a frustrating situation with your skin and the sensations you are feeling, which could be attributed to a variety of factors. Based on your description, it seems you are dealing with symptoms that could be related to insect bites, allergies, or even a psychological response to the perceived presence of mosquitoes or other irritants.
Firstly, let’s address the possibility of insect bites. You mentioned hearing the sound of mosquitoes but not being able to see them. This could indicate that there are indeed mosquitoes present, or it could be a case of heightened sensitivity to sounds, especially if you are already feeling itchy. Mosquito bites typically result in localized redness, swelling, and itching, but if you are not seeing any visible signs on your skin, it may be worth considering other causes.
Another possibility is that you could be experiencing an allergic reaction. Allergies can manifest in various ways, including itching and a sensation of something crawling on the skin, known as formication. This can occur without any visible rash or redness. Allergens can come from various sources, including dust mites, pet dander (especially from your dog), or even certain fabrics or detergents. If your husband is not experiencing these symptoms, it could suggest that you have a specific sensitivity or allergy that he does not share.
Given that you have a dog, it is also plausible that fleas or ticks could be the source of your discomfort. Fleas can cause intense itching and may not always be visible, especially if they are small or if your dog is not showing signs of infestation. It would be wise to check your pet for fleas and consult a veterinarian if you suspect this could be the case. Additionally, dust mites are common in households, particularly in bedding and carpets, and can lead to allergic reactions.
The fact that you are experiencing these symptoms both during the day and at night, and that they are affecting your sleep, is concerning. Sleep disturbances can exacerbate stress and anxiety, which may further heighten your awareness of these sensations. It might be beneficial to create a calming bedtime routine to help reduce anxiety and improve your sleep quality.
In terms of immediate relief, consider using antihistamines to help alleviate itching and discomfort. Over-the-counter options like diphenhydramine (Benadryl) or loratadine (Claritin) can be effective for allergic reactions. Additionally, applying a soothing lotion or cream, such as one containing calamine or hydrocortisone, may help relieve itching.
To prevent future occurrences, it would be advisable to take steps to minimize potential allergens in your home. Regular cleaning, using hypoallergenic bedding, and ensuring your dog is treated for fleas can all contribute to a more comfortable living environment. If the problem persists, it may be beneficial to consult with a dermatologist or an allergist who can provide a more thorough evaluation and possibly conduct allergy testing.
In conclusion, while it is difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of your symptoms without a physical examination, it is essential to consider various possibilities, including insect bites, allergies, or even psychological factors. Taking proactive measures to address potential allergens and seeking professional advice can help you find relief and improve your quality of life.
