Am I sick?

Hello doctor, I started dating a girl at the end of last year, and after three weeks of dating, we had sexual intercourse (with a condom).
In the fourth week, we had oral sex (without a condom).
After that, I experienced unexplained itching, sometimes in the genital area, but there were no visible abnormalities.
I went to the hospital for a blood test (one month after the encounter), and the results were normal.
However, I still experience unexplained itching on my skin, and sometimes I have small bumps that match my skin color on my palms and soles, which also itch, but there are no rashes.
The itching is most severe in the afternoon to evening before I shower, and it tends to lessen after I shower at night.
Recently, I have occasionally experienced a sore throat.
Doctor, am I sick because of these two sexual encounters? Do I need to go to the hospital for another blood test?

In response to your question: Based on your description of symptoms, you are experiencing unexplained itching, sometimes in the genital area, but with no abnormalities noted.
You have had blood tests at the hospital, and the results were all normal.
Given your symptoms and the hospital examination results, it seems unlikely that your condition is related to sexual activity.
However, if you are still concerned, I recommend that you return to the hospital for a follow-up visit.
I hope this response is satisfactory, and I wish you good health!

It sounds like you are experiencing a range of symptoms that are causing you concern, particularly in relation to your recent sexual experiences. Let's break down your situation and address your worries about potential health issues.

Firstly, it's important to note that experiencing itching or rashes after sexual activity can be distressing, but it does not necessarily indicate a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Since you mentioned that you used protection during intercourse, this significantly reduces the risk of transmission of many STIs. However, oral sex without a condom can still pose some risk, particularly for infections such as herpes, gonorrhea, or chlamydia.
The itching you describe could be due to several factors. It might be a reaction to a product used during sexual activity, such as lubricants or condoms, which can sometimes cause allergic reactions or irritations. Additionally, skin conditions like eczema or contact dermatitis could also manifest as itching and rashes, particularly if you have sensitive skin. The fact that you notice the itching worsening in the afternoon and evening may suggest that it could be related to environmental factors or irritants you encounter throughout the day.

You mentioned that you had blood tests done a month after your sexual encounters, and the results were normal. This is reassuring, as it suggests that you did not contract any significant infections at that time. However, if your symptoms persist or worsen, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional again. They may recommend further testing or a physical examination to rule out any underlying conditions.

Regarding your throat pain, this could be unrelated to your sexual activity. Throat discomfort can arise from various causes, including allergies, viral infections, or even post-nasal drip. If this symptom continues, it would be advisable to seek medical attention to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.

In summary, while your symptoms are understandably concerning, they do not definitively indicate that you are sick from your recent sexual activities. However, persistent symptoms warrant further evaluation. It is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to your health. If you feel anxious about your symptoms or the possibility of an STI, do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare provider for peace of mind and appropriate care. They can provide you with the necessary tests and guidance to address your concerns effectively.
Lastly, remember that maintaining open communication with your partner about sexual health is crucial. Discussing any concerns or symptoms can help both of you stay informed and take necessary precautions in the future.
