Frenulum of the glans
Hello doctor, I previously underwent a circumcision at a clinic, and after recovery, I feel that my erections are more swollen than before.
Could this be due to excessive skin being removed? If I were to have the frenulum cut now, would it help improve the situation, as I find it difficult to control ejaculation and tend to ejaculate quickly?

Hello: Whether too much foreskin is removed during circumcision must be assessed by observing if there is any pain or curvature during an erection.
If there is, it indicates that too much foreskin has been cut.
After circumcision, initial sexual activity may be more sensitive, leading to a higher likelihood of premature ejaculation.
It is advisable to monitor the situation for a period of time, and if there is no improvement, it is recommended to visit a urology clinic for further examination.
Thank you!

Understanding frenulum issues after circumcision can be quite complex, especially when considering the physical and psychological aspects of recovery. After circumcision, some patients may experience changes in sensitivity, swelling, or discomfort during erections. These symptoms can be attributed to several factors, including the amount of skin removed, the healing process, and the tension on the remaining skin and frenulum.
The frenulum, a band of tissue on the underside of the penis, plays a significant role in sexual function and sensitivity. If too much skin is removed during circumcision, it can lead to a condition known as "frenulum breve," where the frenulum is too short, causing discomfort or pain during erections. This can also affect sexual performance, including ejaculation control, as the frenulum is involved in the pleasurable sensations experienced during sexual activity.
If you are experiencing significant swelling during erections or discomfort, it is essential to consult with a healthcare provider, preferably a urologist or a specialist in male sexual health. They can assess whether the frenulum is too tight or if there are other underlying issues contributing to your symptoms.
In some cases, a simple procedure to release or lengthen the frenulum may be recommended. This procedure, known as frenuloplasty, can alleviate tension and improve comfort during erections and sexual activity. It is generally a minor surgical procedure with a relatively quick recovery time. However, it is crucial to discuss the potential risks and benefits with your doctor, as well as any concerns you may have about sexual function and ejaculation.
Moreover, if you find that you are experiencing premature ejaculation, it may not solely be related to the frenulum issue. Premature ejaculation can be influenced by various factors, including psychological aspects, anxiety, and physical sensitivity. A healthcare provider can help determine the best approach to address this concern, which may include behavioral techniques, counseling, or medications.
In summary, if you are experiencing discomfort or changes in sexual function after circumcision, it is vital to seek professional medical advice. Your healthcare provider can evaluate your situation, discuss potential solutions, and help you understand the implications of any surgical options. Open communication about your symptoms and concerns is essential for achieving the best possible outcome and ensuring your sexual health and well-being.
