Tingling and numbness in the limbs..?

In recent weeks, I have been experiencing strange sensations in my limbs and face whenever I perform any action, such as waving my hand or taking a step.
The tips of my extremities and the surface of my face (especially my mouth) feel tingly and electric, almost like the sensation of falling from a height (similar to the feeling of a roller coaster dropping from the highest point).
This sensation is quite uncomfortable, and I'm unsure what might be causing it.
Additionally, my vision in my right eye has deteriorated from 1.2 to 0.5 over the past six months.
Could this be related? Thank you, doctor, for your response!

Hello: A sudden decline in vision requires an ophthalmological examination to determine whether the issue is related to the eyes or the brain.
If the symptoms persist, please visit a neurology clinic for a physical examination to confirm if there are any abnormalities.

Tingling sensations in the limbs and face, often described as "pins and needles," can be attributed to a variety of causes, ranging from benign to more serious medical conditions. The symptoms you are experiencing, particularly the tingling in your limbs and face, could be indicative of nerve involvement, and it is essential to explore the underlying reasons for these sensations.

One common cause of tingling sensations is peripheral neuropathy, which can result from various factors including diabetes, vitamin deficiencies (especially B vitamins), alcohol use, and certain medications. Peripheral neuropathy occurs when the peripheral nerves, which transmit signals between the central nervous system and the rest of the body, become damaged. This damage can lead to altered sensations, including tingling, numbness, and pain.

Another potential cause of your symptoms could be related to cervical spine issues. Conditions such as herniated discs or cervical spondylosis can compress the nerves that exit the spinal cord and travel to the arms and hands, leading to tingling sensations. If the compression affects the nerves that innervate the face, it could also explain the facial tingling you are experiencing.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is another condition that can cause tingling sensations in various parts of the body, including the face and limbs. MS is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, leading to demyelination of the nerves, which can result in sensory disturbances. If you have other symptoms such as vision changes, muscle weakness, or coordination issues, it would be prudent to discuss these with your healthcare provider.

Your mention of a decline in vision in your right eye over the past six months is particularly concerning. Changes in vision, especially if accompanied by tingling sensations, could suggest a neurological issue that warrants further investigation. Conditions such as optic neuritis, which can occur in MS, or other neurological disorders could be at play. It is crucial to have a comprehensive evaluation, including a neurological examination and possibly imaging studies, to determine the cause of your symptoms.

In addition to the above, anxiety and stress can also manifest physically, leading to sensations of tingling or numbness. Hyperventilation, which often accompanies anxiety, can lead to temporary changes in blood flow and oxygen levels, resulting in these sensations.

Given the complexity of your symptoms, it is essential to consult with a healthcare professional, preferably a neurologist, who can perform a thorough evaluation. They may recommend tests such as blood work to check for vitamin deficiencies, nerve conduction studies to assess the function of your nerves, and imaging studies like MRI to evaluate for any structural issues in the spine or brain.

In summary, tingling sensations in the limbs and face can arise from various causes, including peripheral neuropathy, cervical spine issues, multiple sclerosis, and even anxiety. The decline in vision you mentioned adds another layer of complexity and necessitates a prompt medical evaluation. Early diagnosis and intervention can significantly improve outcomes, so I encourage you to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
