I have noticed some growths in the coronal sulcus behind my glans?

I have noticed some growths behind the glans of my penis, specifically on the corona, which appear somewhat irregular and resemble the shape of pimples.
They haven't increased in size and have remained the same.
When not erect, they are not very clear, but they become more visible when erect.
I consulted a doctor and asked if this could be genital warts, but the doctor said it was not.
He prescribed an ointment for me to apply, but it hasn't been effective, and the condition remains unchanged.

Previously, I had similar growths located in the corona sulcus beneath the glans, which I also had checked by a doctor.
Initially, he was uncertain and prescribed an ointment for me to use.
After a week, I returned for a follow-up, but the growths had not disappeared.
The doctor then suspected they might be genital warts and recommended a biopsy or electrosurgery to send the specimen for testing.
The test results later confirmed that it was not genital warts.

This incident occurred during my summer break after graduating high school.
I am puzzled because I have not engaged in any sexual activity, nor have I visited sex workers, so I am unsure why these strange growths are appearing on my penis.
I wonder if it could be related to having a long foreskin, as I always pull it back to clean during showers.
Now, I am experiencing these unusual growths again.
Is there a doctor who can help me? I am really scared.

P.S.: I have been seeing the same doctor for all my examinations, and it is not a regular clinic but a hospital affiliated with the health department.

Hello, I believe it is what is referred to as a pearly penile papule, which is considered normal tissue.
Generally, no treatment is required.

Unusual bumps on the penis can be a source of anxiety and concern for many individuals, especially when they appear suddenly or change in appearance. In your case, it sounds like you have experienced bumps that resemble pimples or other lesions, and you have sought medical advice multiple times without a definitive diagnosis or resolution.
Firstly, it is important to understand that the penis can develop various types of bumps or lesions, and not all of them are indicative of a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or other serious conditions. Some common benign conditions include:
1. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, harmless bumps that can appear around the corona of the glans (the head of the penis). They are often mistaken for warts but are completely normal anatomical variations.

2. Sebaceous Cysts: These are small, non-painful lumps that can occur due to blocked sebaceous glands. They are typically harmless and do not require treatment unless they become infected or bothersome.

3. Folliculitis: This is an inflammation of the hair follicles that can cause small red bumps or pustules. It can be caused by irritation, infection, or ingrown hairs.

4. Genital Warts: Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), these can appear as small, flesh-colored or gray bumps. They can be mistaken for other types of lesions, which is why your doctor may have suggested a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.

5. Other Conditions: There are other skin conditions, such as lichen planus or molluscum contagiosum, that can also present as bumps on the penis.

Given that you have already consulted with a doctor and received a diagnosis that ruled out genital warts, it is crucial to continue seeking medical advice, especially if the bumps persist or change in appearance. Here are some steps you can take:
- Follow-Up Appointments: If the bumps have not improved with topical treatments, it may be beneficial to schedule a follow-up appointment with your healthcare provider. Discuss your concerns and ask about further diagnostic options, such as a biopsy or referral to a dermatologist.

- Maintain Hygiene: Continue to practice good hygiene by gently cleaning the area with mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh soaps or irritants that could exacerbate the condition.

- Monitor Changes: Keep an eye on the bumps for any changes in size, color, or symptoms such as pain or discharge. Documenting these changes can be helpful for your doctor.

- Consider a Second Opinion: If you feel that your concerns are not being adequately addressed, seeking a second opinion from another qualified healthcare provider may provide additional insights or treatment options.

- Discuss Psychological Impact: It is understandable to feel anxious or fearful about changes in your body. If these feelings are overwhelming, consider discussing them with a mental health professional who can provide support.

In conclusion, while unusual bumps on the penis can be concerning, many conditions are benign and treatable. Continued communication with your healthcare provider, along with monitoring your symptoms, is key to finding a resolution. Remember, you are not alone in this, and there are resources available to help you navigate your concerns.
