Itching and peeling in the anal and groin areas?
Hello, my symptoms started with occasional itching, but it has become more frequent, and sometimes I can't stand it even at night.
I think the skin might be quite damaged because washing may have worsened it (possibly during the healing process).
To relieve the itching, I've been applying calamine lotion since I'm abroad.
Can you tell me what medications I should buy and their English names? Also, I've noticed that my skin has been itching frequently on my face, hands, and feet, and I'm not sure why, even though I apply lotion regularly.
Anyway, the priority is to treat the groin area first.
Thank you.

I'm sorry, but online diagnosis and prescription are not permitted.
In many developed countries, medications cannot be purchased freely; a prescription from a licensed physician in that country is required to obtain prescription medications.
You can first consult a pharmacist at a pharmacy for recommendations on over-the-counter medications.

More Info
It sounds like you're experiencing significant discomfort due to itching and peeling in the groin area, which can be quite distressing. Based on your description, it seems you may be dealing with a fungal infection, commonly known as "jock itch" (tinea cruris), or possibly a form of dermatitis. Here’s a comprehensive approach to managing your symptoms effectively.
Recommended Treatments
1. Topical Antifungal Creams: Over-the-counter antifungal creams can be very effective in treating jock itch. Look for products containing clotrimazole (Lotrimin), miconazole (Monistat), or terbinafine (Lamisil). These medications work by eliminating the fungi causing the infection. Apply the cream to the affected area as directed, usually twice daily for at least two weeks, even if symptoms improve sooner.
2. Hydrocortisone Cream: If there is significant inflammation and itching, a low-potency hydrocortisone cream (1%) can help reduce inflammation and itching. However, this should be used sparingly and not for extended periods, as prolonged use can lead to skin thinning.
3. Antihistamines: If itching is severe, oral antihistamines like diphenhydramine (Benadryl) can help alleviate itching and improve sleep if taken before bedtime.
4. Moisture Control: Keeping the area dry is crucial. Use talcum powder or antifungal powder to absorb moisture and reduce friction. This can help prevent further irritation and fungal growth.
5. Avoid Irritants: Be cautious with products that may irritate the skin, such as heavily scented soaps or lotions. Stick to gentle, fragrance-free products.
Lifestyle and Home Remedies
- Loose-fitting Clothing: Wear breathable, loose-fitting underwear and clothing to reduce moisture and friction in the groin area.
- Hygiene: Maintain good hygiene by washing the area daily with mild soap and water, and ensure it is thoroughly dried afterward.
- Avoid Scratching: Try to avoid scratching the area, as this can lead to further irritation or secondary infections.
When to Seek Medical Attention
If your symptoms do not improve after a week of using over-the-counter treatments, or if you notice increased redness, swelling, or discharge, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider. They may prescribe stronger antifungal medications or investigate other potential causes of your symptoms, such as bacterial infections or skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis.
Additional Considerations
Since you mentioned experiencing itching in other areas of your body (face, hands, feet), it may be worthwhile to consider if you have a broader skin condition or an allergic reaction. Keeping a diary of your symptoms, including any new products you’ve used or foods you’ve eaten, can help identify potential triggers.
Conclusion
In summary, for your groin area, start with topical antifungal treatments and consider hydrocortisone for inflammation. Maintain good hygiene and moisture control, and wear loose clothing. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical advice for further evaluation and treatment. Remember, while self-treatment can be effective, professional guidance is invaluable, especially if there are multiple areas of concern.
