Chest issues?

A few days ago, I suddenly experienced itching in my nipple and unconsciously started to scratch it through my clothing (about 5-7 days ago).
Later, it became slightly swollen and painful, and this condition persisted for several days.
Yesterday, I noticed a small white spot (appearing like a pustule) in the itchy and painful area.
It feels a bit sensitive when not touched, and there is mild pain when pressed.
After researching online, I found a lot of information indicating that early symptoms of Paget's disease of the breast can include eczema-like phenomena, which has made me very anxious...
I'm afraid it might be breast cancer.
I plan to visit the Women's Health Center at a hospital in Taichung for an examination soon, but I would still appreciate professional advice from a doctor.
Thank you!

Your symptoms are mostly due to dermatitis caused by local irritation, and there should be no major concerns.
Generally, treatment for two weeks should lead to improvement.
If there is no improvement, a biopsy may be considered to rule out any concerns.
Only with a formal diagnosis can you feel at ease.

When it comes to breast symptoms, understanding the underlying causes and knowing when to seek medical advice is crucial for maintaining breast health. Based on the symptoms you've described, it sounds like you're experiencing a combination of itching, swelling, and localized pain in your nipple area, along with the appearance of a small white spot resembling a pustule. These symptoms can understandably cause concern, especially with the anxiety surrounding breast cancer.

First and foremost, it’s important to recognize that breast pain and changes in the breast can arise from a variety of benign conditions. Hormonal fluctuations, particularly those associated with the menstrual cycle, can lead to breast tenderness, swelling, and even changes in the skin of the breast and nipple area. Conditions such as fibrocystic breast changes, which are characterized by lumpy or painful breasts, are common and often linked to hormonal changes.
The presence of a small white spot or pustule on the nipple could indicate several things. It might be a blocked milk duct, a small cyst, or even a benign skin condition such as a sebaceous cyst. In some cases, it could also be related to an infection, such as a localized skin infection or even a condition known as periareolar abscess, which can occur around the nipple area.
However, your mention of the concern regarding Paget's disease of the nipple, which can present with symptoms like itching, redness, and flaking of the nipple skin, is valid. Paget's disease is often associated with underlying breast cancer, but it is relatively rare. The key to differentiating between benign and potentially serious conditions lies in a thorough evaluation by a healthcare professional.

Given your symptoms and the anxiety they are causing, it is wise to seek medical attention. You mentioned that you plan to visit a women's health center, which is an excellent step. During your appointment, be sure to discuss all your symptoms in detail, including the duration, any changes in the appearance of your breast or nipple, and any other associated symptoms such as discharge or changes in sensation.
In addition to a physical examination, your healthcare provider may recommend imaging studies such as a mammogram or ultrasound to evaluate the breast tissue further. If there are any concerning findings, a biopsy may be warranted to rule out malignancy.
It’s also important to consider that stress and anxiety can exacerbate physical symptoms, including breast pain and discomfort. Engaging in stress-reducing activities, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and ensuring regular follow-ups with your healthcare provider can help manage both your physical and emotional well-being.

In summary, while many breast symptoms can be benign and related to hormonal changes or other non-cancerous conditions, it is essential to take any new or concerning symptoms seriously. Seeking professional medical advice is the best course of action to ensure proper diagnosis and peace of mind. Remember, early detection and intervention are key in managing any potential health issues effectively.
