I would like to respectfully ask Dr. Hsu..?
Dear Dr.
Hsu,
I hope this message finds you well.
A few years ago, I had a consultation with you at the Taipei United Second Outpatient Center (if I remember correctly, it was on a Tuesday evening).
Later, I followed your advice and went to Taipei Veterans General Hospital for several tests.
However, when I tried to reach out to you for another consultation, I couldn't find you.
I would like to confirm if you are indeed the same Dr.
Hsu I consulted back then, as my current condition has worsened significantly.
I thought it would be faster to consult you directly, as I have found several physicians at major hospitals to be rather dismissive; some suggested surgery while others said there was no problem.
It has been quite frustrating.
I am relieved to have found this way to reach you and hope you are the same physician who treated me before.
I apologize if I have overstepped in any way.
Thank you.

Dear Patient,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your journey with me. It’s understandable to feel frustrated and overwhelmed when navigating the complexities of healthcare, especially when it comes to ear, nose, and throat (ENT) issues. I appreciate your trust in my care, and I want to assure you that your concerns are valid and deserve attention.
From your description, it seems that you have been experiencing a worsening of your condition, which can be distressing. It’s not uncommon for patients to feel lost when they encounter different opinions from various healthcare providers. The inconsistency in recommendations—some suggesting surgery while others downplay the severity of the issue—can certainly add to your anxiety. This is a common experience in the medical field, particularly in specialties like ENT, where symptoms can often overlap with other conditions.
First and foremost, I want to emphasize the importance of continuity of care. If you feel that I was able to provide you with the support and understanding you needed in the past, I would be more than happy to assist you again. It’s crucial to have a healthcare provider who is familiar with your history and can provide a comprehensive evaluation of your current situation. If I am indeed the same Dr. Hsu you consulted previously, I would be glad to review your case and help determine the best course of action moving forward.
In terms of your current symptoms, I recommend keeping a detailed record of your experiences. Note any changes in your condition, including the frequency and intensity of symptoms, any triggers you may have identified, and how these symptoms impact your daily life. This information can be invaluable during our consultation, as it will provide a clearer picture of your situation.
Additionally, I encourage you to seek a second opinion if you feel that your concerns are not being adequately addressed. It’s your right as a patient to pursue further evaluations until you feel confident in the treatment plan proposed. Look for specialists who have a good reputation in the field, and don’t hesitate to ask questions about their approach and reasoning behind their recommendations.
In the meantime, consider exploring non-invasive options that may alleviate your symptoms. Depending on your specific condition, treatments such as physical therapy, lifestyle modifications, or even alternative therapies like acupuncture may provide some relief. However, these should be discussed with a healthcare provider to ensure they are appropriate for your situation.
Lastly, I want to reassure you that you are not alone in this journey. Many patients face similar challenges, and it’s perfectly normal to seek help and clarification. Your health and well-being are paramount, and I am here to support you in any way I can. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please let me know, and I will do my best to accommodate you.
Take care, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,
Dr. Hsu
