Will it still grow?

Hello, Dr.
Hsu.
I would like to ask if, at the age of 25 and after completing my military service, I have just undergone a circumcision.
Is there still room for growth in my penis? I previously had phimosis, and I read online that after circumcision, the penis may grow.
Is this true? Does the growth include length, girth, and the glans? Thank you.

Hǎo fán, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2007/04/12

Dr. Xu Weikai reply Urology

Hello, theoretically, there should be no further development.
It has already stabilized.
Note: The length and size during each erection can vary based on the level of stimulation and arousal; it is not always the same.
Response from Dr.
Hsu Wei-kai, Director of Urology, Taitung Hospital, Department of Health, Executive Yuan.

When it comes to the growth of the penis after circumcision, especially at the age of 25, there are several factors to consider. First, it is important to understand that the penis typically reaches its full size during late adolescence to early adulthood, which generally occurs by the age of 18 to 21. By the age of 25, most men have completed their penile growth, and significant increases in size are unlikely.

Circumcision itself does not stimulate further growth of the penis. However, for individuals who had a condition like phimosis (where the foreskin cannot be easily retracted), circumcision can lead to a more aesthetically pleasing appearance and may enhance the visibility of the glans (the head of the penis). This can sometimes create the illusion of a larger penis, but it does not actually increase its size.

Regarding the specific aspects of growth you mentioned—length, girth, and the glans—here’s a breakdown:
1. Length: After circumcision, the penis may appear longer because the foreskin is no longer covering the glans. However, the actual length of the penis does not increase post-surgery. If you had a significant amount of foreskin removed, it might give the impression of increased length, but this is purely a visual effect.

2. Girth: Circumcision does not affect the girth of the penis. The circumference remains the same unless there are other factors at play, such as weight loss or gain, which can affect the appearance of girth.

3. Glans: The glans may become more prominent and exposed after circumcision, which can lead to a change in sensitivity and appearance. Some men report that their glans become less sensitive over time due to constant exposure, but this varies from person to person.

In summary, while circumcision can change the appearance of the penis, it does not contribute to actual growth in size after the age of 25. If you are concerned about your penis size or have questions about sexual health, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional who specializes in urology or sexual health. They can provide personalized advice and address any concerns you may have.

Additionally, it is important to focus on overall sexual health and well-being rather than solely on size. Factors such as confidence, emotional connection, and sexual technique play significant roles in sexual satisfaction for both partners. If you have any lingering concerns about your circumcision or sexual health, do not hesitate to reach out to a medical professional for guidance.

Hello: At 23 years old, you will no longer grow. Size is fine. If you apply a bit more pressure or friction to the glans, you may experience some pain—this is normal for everyone. Wishing you good health.
