Gastrointestinal discomfort?
I have recently experienced sudden sharp pains in my stomach, irregular bowel movements that alternate between hard and loose stools, and sometimes my stools change from being formed to completely liquid.
Additionally, I occasionally feel sudden pain in my lower abdomen.
My diet is light, I eat regular meals, and I maintain a consistent lifestyle.
What could be causing these symptoms? Do you have any suggestions? Also, every time I have a bowel movement, hemorrhoids protrude.
Is there a way to completely cure this? Furthermore, I feel very uncomfortable and have diarrhea whenever I eat oily foods.
Thank you for your response.

Hello,
1.
Hemorrhoids are the dilation of veins near the anus and the relaxation of connective tissue.
It is advisable to drink plenty of water and consume a high-fiber diet, while minimizing abdominal straining during bowel movements to prevent worsening of hemorrhoids.
Additionally, it is recommended to avoid irritating foods.
If hemorrhoids protrude and cannot retract on their own, this indicates a more severe condition, and it is necessary to consult a colorectal surgeon for medication or surgical treatment.
2.
Gastrointestinal discomfort, abdominal pain, abnormal bowel movements, or increased sensitivity of the gastrointestinal tract can have various causes.
Individuals with heightened sensitivity may experience inflammation as well.
It is recommended that those sensitive to certain foods (such as greasy foods or milk) reduce their intake accordingly.
Maintaining a relaxed emotional state is also beneficial.
If symptoms persist, it is advisable to seek medical attention.
Wishing you good health!

More Info
Digestive discomfort can be a complex issue, often stemming from a variety of causes. Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing a combination of symptoms including abdominal pain, irregular bowel movements, and issues related to hemorrhoids. Let's break down these symptoms and explore potential causes and solutions.
Causes of Your Symptoms
1. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): Your symptoms of alternating between hard and loose stools, along with abdominal pain, could be indicative of IBS. This is a common gastrointestinal disorder that affects the large intestine and can cause cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea or constipation.
2. Dietary Factors: Even though you mentioned that your diet is generally light and regular, certain foods can trigger digestive issues. For instance, high-fat or greasy foods can lead to diarrhea, especially if your body has difficulty digesting fats. Additionally, if you are consuming dairy products, gluten, or high-fiber foods, these could also contribute to your symptoms if you have intolerances or sensitivities.
3. Stress and Anxiety: Psychological factors can significantly impact digestive health. Stress can exacerbate symptoms of IBS and lead to irregular bowel habits. If you are experiencing stress in your life, it could be contributing to your digestive discomfort.
4. Hemorrhoids: The presence of hemorrhoids, especially if they are protruding during bowel movements, suggests that you may be straining during defecation. This can be a result of constipation or hard stools, which can further complicate your bowel health.
Recommendations for Relief
1. Dietary Adjustments: Consider keeping a food diary to identify any specific foods that may be triggering your symptoms. You might want to try a low-FODMAP diet, which has been shown to help many individuals with IBS. This involves reducing certain carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed in the small intestine.
2. Hydration and Fiber: Ensure you are drinking plenty of water and consuming adequate fiber. A gradual increase in fiber intake can help regulate bowel movements. However, be cautious with fiber supplements, as they can sometimes exacerbate symptoms if introduced too quickly.
3. Regular Exercise: Physical activity can help stimulate digestion and promote regular bowel movements. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week.
4. Stress Management: Incorporate stress-reducing techniques into your routine, such as mindfulness, yoga, or deep-breathing exercises. These can help alleviate some of the psychological factors that may be contributing to your digestive issues.
5. Consult a Healthcare Professional: Given the complexity of your symptoms, it would be wise to consult with a gastroenterologist or a healthcare provider specializing in digestive health. They can perform necessary tests to rule out conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or infections and provide tailored treatment options.
Addressing Hemorrhoids
For your hemorrhoids, there are several approaches to consider:
1. Topical Treatments: Over-the-counter creams and ointments can provide relief from itching and discomfort. These often contain hydrocortisone or witch hazel.
2. Warm Baths: Soaking in a warm bath can help reduce swelling and discomfort associated with hemorrhoids.
3. Dietary Changes: As mentioned, improving your fiber intake can help prevent straining during bowel movements, which is crucial for managing hemorrhoids.
4. Medical Procedures: If hemorrhoids are persistent and causing significant discomfort, procedures such as rubber band ligation or sclerotherapy may be options to consider. These should be discussed with a healthcare provider.
5. Surgical Options: In severe cases, surgical intervention may be necessary to remove hemorrhoids.
Conclusion
Digestive discomfort can stem from various factors, including dietary choices, stress, and underlying health conditions. By making dietary adjustments, managing stress, and consulting with healthcare professionals, you can work towards alleviating your symptoms. Additionally, addressing hemorrhoids through lifestyle changes and medical treatments can significantly improve your quality of life. Remember, it’s essential to listen to your body and seek professional guidance when needed.
