Testicular pain
Hello, Dr.
Hsu.
I would like to ask what results can occur from excessive masturbation.
A few days ago, I masturbated twice, and about 10 minutes later (the exact time is uncertain, just an estimate), I noticed pain in my left testicle.
It hurts when I touch it, and I'm wondering if there is some kind of pathology.
When sitting, there is a bit of pain, which might be due to pressure.
However, it's really difficult to adjust my sitting position; no matter how I sit, there is a slight pain.
It seems that it's not just the left testicle; my lower abdomen also feels a bit sore (I'm not sure if it's the bladder or the abdomen, but it's in the area just above the penis).
Now, it's the fourth day, and there is still slight pain.
Sitting still causes the same discomfort, and lying down results in lower abdominal pain.

Dr. Xu Weikai reply Urology
Ping Yun: Hello, based on your description, I believe it may not be related to masturbation.
Typically, symptoms associated with erections do not last that long.
Testicular pain may have coincidentally occurred at the same time.
From a Western medical perspective, masturbation is generally not harmful.
Testicular pain could be due to neuralgia, infection, kidney stones, hemorrhoids, testicular torsion, etc.
It is best to seek medical examination as soon as possible.
This is a response from Dr.
Hsu Wei-Kai, Director of Urology at Taitung Hospital, Department of Health, Executive Yuan.

Testicular pain can be a concerning symptom, especially when it arises suddenly after activities such as masturbation. While excessive masturbation itself is not typically associated with serious medical conditions, it can lead to temporary discomfort or pain in the testicles due to a variety of reasons.
Firstly, it's important to understand that the testicles are sensitive organs, and any excessive stimulation can lead to soreness or pain. This discomfort may be due to a condition known as "epididymitis," which is inflammation of the epididymis, the tube that carries sperm from the testicles. This condition can be caused by infections, but it can also occur due to trauma or excessive activity.
Another potential cause of testicular pain after masturbation is "testicular torsion," a serious condition where the spermatic cord becomes twisted, cutting off blood supply to the testicle. This condition is usually accompanied by severe pain and swelling and requires immediate medical attention. However, given that your pain is mild and has persisted for several days without severe symptoms, torsion may be less likely.
The pain you are experiencing in the left testicle, along with the discomfort in your lower abdomen, could also be related to muscle strain or tension in the pelvic area. Sitting for prolonged periods can sometimes exacerbate discomfort in the groin and lower abdomen, especially if there is pressure on the pelvic floor muscles.
Additionally, the pain could be related to a condition called "varicocele," which is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum. This condition can cause a dull ache or discomfort, particularly after physical activity or prolonged sitting.
It is also worth noting that psychological factors, such as anxiety or stress related to sexual performance or guilt about masturbation, can manifest as physical symptoms, including testicular pain.
Given that your pain has persisted for four days, it is advisable to seek medical evaluation. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination and may recommend an ultrasound to rule out any serious conditions such as torsion or varicocele. They can also assess for signs of infection or other underlying issues.
In the meantime, here are some general recommendations to help alleviate discomfort:
1. Rest: Avoid activities that may exacerbate the pain, including excessive masturbation or heavy lifting.
2. Ice: Applying a cold pack to the affected area for 15-20 minutes can help reduce swelling and numb the pain.
3. Support: Wearing supportive underwear can help alleviate discomfort by reducing movement and pressure on the testicles.
4. Pain Relief: Over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen may help manage pain and inflammation.
In conclusion, while excessive masturbation is unlikely to cause serious harm, it can lead to temporary discomfort or pain in the testicles. Given the duration and nature of your symptoms, it is important to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation and appropriate management.
