Chronic abdominal bloating


Hello Dr.
Chen,
Many years ago, I suffered from gastric and duodenal ulcers.
Since then, I experience gas and abdominal bloating after meals, particularly after consuming meat, legumes, eggs, fermented foods, glutinous rice products, yogurt, and dairy products.
The gas is often foul-smelling, resembling the odor of feces.
This issue has not improved to this day.

In recent years, I have consulted with gastroenterologists at a medical center.
They advised that as long as I maintain a normal lifestyle, exercise regularly, reduce stress, drink plenty of water, and take medications to reduce bloating, my symptoms would improve.
I have followed their advice, but my condition remains unchanged.

I also consulted with a colorectal specialist and underwent a colonoscopy.
During the procedure, the doctor noted that I am thin, and I experienced severe pain when the instrument reached my navel.
However, the examination from the rectum to the navel showed normal results.
The colorectal specialist suggested that I could undergo gastrointestinal imaging to examine the area above the navel.
Therefore, he recommended switching the examination to a sigmoidoscopy instead of a colonoscopy.
I would like to ask you, since neither Western nor traditional Chinese medicine has been able to cure my symptoms, what kind of examination should I undergo to thoroughly address the issues of gas and abdominal bloating? This problem has also affected my interpersonal relationships.
