Normal vaginal intercourse with no sensation in the glans?

Hello Doctor: I am 28 years old and recently experienced intercourse for the first time in my life.
My partner is a woman who is 7 years older than me and has given birth naturally.
That day, we tried both the cowgirl position and the missionary position.
We had plenty of foreplay, and I confirmed there was sufficient lubrication when I inserted my fingers into her vagina; however, when my penis entered her body, I did not feel the sensation of the glans rubbing against the vaginal walls, and I even mistakenly thought my penis had slipped out.
During the cowgirl position, I only felt the vaginal opening tightly gripping my penis, and in the missionary position, I could only barely feel the presence of the vaginal walls with vigorous thrusting.
I am unsure if this is because my penis was inserted too deeply, causing the glans not to be enveloped by the anterior vaginal wall but instead resting in the cavity of the posterior fornix; or if it is due to my partner's vagina being too short (she is approximately 155 cm tall, and I wonder if height plays a role).
I am genuinely worried that frequent masturbation may have led to decreased sensitivity, which is why I do not feel the glans making contact with the vaginal walls upon insertion.
To be honest, due to the lack of friction, I often lose my erection during the process.
I hope the doctor can provide answers to my concerns so that we can have a fulfilling and happy sexual life! (Could it also be that since she has given birth naturally, the posterior part of her vagina is more spacious?)

Frequent occurrences are commonly caused by psychological stress, so there is no need to worry too much.

Understanding the lack of sensation during intercourse can be a complex issue that encompasses both physical and psychological factors. Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing a diminished sensation during sexual intercourse, which can be distressing and may affect your sexual relationship. Let’s explore some potential causes and solutions for this situation.

Possible Causes
1. Anatomical Factors: The anatomy of both partners can play a significant role in sexual sensation. If your partner has a shorter vaginal canal, it may lead to less friction and sensation during penetration. The depth of penetration can also affect how much of the vaginal wall is stimulated. In some cases, the position during intercourse can lead to the penis being inserted too deeply, which might not provide the desired sensation.

2. Psychological Factors: Anxiety and stress can significantly impact sexual performance and sensation. If you are feeling anxious about the experience, it may lead to a lack of arousal and sensitivity. This is particularly common for individuals who are new to sexual experiences. The pressure to perform or to feel a certain way can create a mental block that diminishes physical sensations.

3. Physical Factors: The use of certain substances, including excessive masturbation, can lead to temporary desensitization. If you have been engaging in frequent masturbation, it’s possible that your body has become accustomed to a different type of stimulation, which may not be replicated during intercourse. Additionally, hormonal factors, fatigue, or even certain medications can affect sexual sensitivity.

4. Lubrication and Foreplay: While you mentioned that there was sufficient lubrication, it’s essential to ensure that both partners are adequately aroused before penetration. Sometimes, even with lubrication, the body may not be fully ready for penetration, which can lead to discomfort or a lack of sensation.

Solutions and Recommendations
1. Communication with Your Partner: Open communication with your partner about what feels good and what doesn’t is crucial. Discussing your concerns can help both of you understand each other’s needs better and can enhance intimacy.

2. Experiment with Positions: Trying different sexual positions may help you find one that provides more sensation. Positions that allow for shallower penetration might enhance the feeling of friction against the sensitive areas of the vagina.

3. Focus on Foreplay: Spend more time on foreplay to ensure both partners are fully aroused before penetration. This can include kissing, touching, and oral sex, which can enhance overall arousal and sensitivity.

4. Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: Engaging in mindfulness practices can help reduce anxiety and improve your overall sexual experience. Techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or even yoga can help you feel more relaxed and connected during intercourse.

5. Consult a Healthcare Professional: If the issue persists, it may be beneficial to consult with a healthcare provider or a sex therapist. They can provide personalized advice and may help identify any underlying medical or psychological issues that could be contributing to your experience.

6. Take Breaks from Masturbation: If you suspect that frequent masturbation may be affecting your sensitivity, consider taking a break for a while. This can help reset your body’s sensitivity levels.

7. Explore Sensation: Engaging in activities that heighten your awareness of physical sensations, such as sensual massages or using different textures, can help you reconnect with your body and enhance your sexual experience.

In conclusion, the lack of sensation during intercourse can stem from various factors, including anatomical, psychological, and physical influences. By addressing these aspects through communication, experimentation, and possibly professional guidance, you can work towards a more fulfilling sexual experience. Remember, sexual intimacy is a journey, and it’s essential to be patient with yourself and your partner as you navigate this together.
